Right. What happened in the end with the lone parent summer holiday plans?

Did anything get organised, and if so can I tag along?

Or did nothing happen? If so I'm going to take charge and organise it. Who's in? If you're interested, can you please answer the following questions and we'll see what the consensus is. If it turns out there are vastly differing needs then people might have to split off into their own camps.

Ages of children:
Budget (roughly):
School holidays or not?
(+If it turns out the cost is too high for this year now, is it better to do one later in this year or leave it until next year?)
Public transport or driving?
Where would you be coming from, and how far willing to travel? OR general areas of UK where you'd be willing to travel to?

Accommodation:
camping - yes/no/maybe
big shared house - yes/no/maybe
B&B/hotel/caravan park - yes/no/other suggestions?

Oh and two more questions:
Fri-sun, or a few days during the week, or a whole week?
Most important consideration? ie budget, timing, facilities?

Ages of children: Just DS (2)

Budget (roughly): Probably max £200 including travel costs.

School holidays or not? Doesn't matter for us - needs to be uni holidays though ie mid June - October time, if during the week.

(+If it turns out the cost is too high for this year now, is it better to do one later in this year or leave it until next year?) - Don't mind :)

Public transport or driving? - Public transport

Where would you be coming from, and how far willing to travel? OR general areas of UK where you'd be willing to travel to? coming from warwickshire. Travel distance dependent on cost of transport and how much is left over after booking the place.

Accommodation:
camping - yes
big shared house - yes
B&B/hotel/caravan park - yes though would prefer not to be stuck in a hotel room in evenings as DS too little to leave.

Fri-sun, or a few days during the week, or a whole week? - Probably not a whole week as too expensive. Either of the other options would be okay - depends what others want and whether it's in the holidays.

Most important consideration? Budget really.

One DS, 15 months.
Budget- absolutely minimal.
Any time, maybe a long weekend initially?
Camping (I have a camper van..)
Coming from Cornwall, will consider most of southern England/ Wales.

I did think about the shared house possibility, but that would take loads more organising, and the state of my budget at the mo would mean that I couldn't commit to anything in advance- not really fair to whoever did the organising..

(Also, imagining the possibility that, since none of us have met, we might not all get on like a house on fire? If everybody was self-contained and on an informal basis, such as on a campsite, there would always be the possibility to quietly run away!)

(blushes, as she realises she has outed herself as a considerable misanthrope)

I did post on the original thread that I know a really nice campsite on Dartmoor- cheap, basic, beautiful, campfires allowed..
