Hey;
I just became a Mummy to a beautiful baby girl. But I didnt even know I was pregnant until a week before she arrived; and even then thought I was only a couple of weeks pregnant (had had NO symptons; no missed periods etc) so when I went into labour it was all very sudden and unexpected! Now I'm at home with a baby I have little idea what to do with! Not had time to read any baby books; I;m not with babys Dad and live at home with my family now (who are a MASSIVE help!). Just wondering if you Mums out there have any "top tips" for the two of us!!
**Breast feeding her and finding it ok..sometimes, not brave enough to feed in public yet!
**shes very windy but cant make her burp! seems to get bad stomach ache!
THANK YOU!

Oh my goodness, what a shock for you!

I think under the circumstances at the moment all you can do is just take each day as it comes. In some ways it is good that you haven't read any books and just go with the flow as sometimes new Mums read all the literature and when things aren't textbook they find it difficult.

I found lying baby on my legs facing me and then massaging the tummy in a cicular motion and cycling their legs helps with tummy ache and lying baby on your chest and um patting - but they are all different and it is a case of trial and error though I never found Infacol or Gripe Water did anything.

Good luck!

PS. Have you told bays Dad yet?

we're trying infacol today!!she seems to eat soooo much it hurts her!

yup babies dad knows; is going to meet her but not be involved.
thanks!!!

Congratulations!!

Sorry, it's late and I'm going to bed so a very quick answer to a bit that jumped out and I might come back to you another day!

Re breastfeeding in public. I used to wear a vest top under whatever else I was wearing. Then when you need to feed, pull the vest top down under your boob with your bra and your other top up, so you're covered over the top and round your middle IYSWIM. Practice at home in front of the mirror so that when you go out you know you can do it without any fuss!

And don't be scared to give her a good firm pat on the back to get the wind up. I also found gripe water fab. Oh and see if anything you have makes a difference. I had to give up tea and coffee while bf my DS - he would cry for about 2 hours after a caffiene feed!

Wow congratulations, it's an amazing journey once you've got over the shock!

I found drinking fennel tea helped reduce wind for my LO when I was breastfeeding..

Good luck

I used on of those pashmina-sized shawls while breastfeeding, great for making a "curtain"! Smile

Congratulations!
