If my ex stays over for two nights a month, is this a problem for tax credits etc?

My ex lives 280 miles away from us, he usually stays at a B&B and has our daughter there with him, however if he stays at my house he can afford to come to see her more often? Which is what I want him to do.

But I'm now worried I might get into trouble with the tax credits system?? He doesn't give me any other money apart from paying her nursery fees (£305 a month), so isn't paying me to stay here and it is just two nights a month?

Any advice please, scared to phone them up in case it is wrong and they stop my money? If it is wrong then obviously he will have to go back to the B&B at weekends. I work full time so not on any other benefits?

Thanks

Forgot to add, we are not back together, no chance of that but things are reasonably amicable between us, so thought it was the best way to deal with things??

I cannot see how it should be a problem, in that he is not living with you as a partner, not contributing to your day to day living costs, and is just visiting, in a way any other 'relative' would visit.

But I guess, it would be how you would 'prove' that if ever brought into question? if you are able, then should be ok imo.

It had better not be a problem or I will be in trouble - DS dad stays over about once a fortnight though we are very definitely not a couple.

I have a similar thing going on with my little boys dad and he stays on a saturday evening as he has no proper base and I personally wouldnt trust him to look after a dog on his own

You'll be fine.
