I am about to seperate from my partner and move to my mums house with my 7 month old daughter.
I have been living with my partner in a rented flat for 6 months. Previous to that we were living in my house that I now rent out.
The rent I get covers a personal loan I have and bills/rent I have been paying.
I now have no money left after paying so many bills.
My partner will not commit to giving me any money-he says he hasn't got enough to as he now will have to pay the rent on his own at the flat. He is bipolar and is starting therapy soon and is very unstable and fragile. I am asking him for money regularly and hoping he will contribute but I cannot count on it.
I do receive child benefit of £80 a month and my maternity allowance has just finished.
Am I able to claim anything? I am thinking possibly not due to owning my house that I rent out.
I thought it was worth checking out as I am buying my DD and my food on a credit card I won't be able to pay off at the moment.

Do you work?
Will you be moving into your house once the current tenants lease expires?

Also I'm not seeing how your bills will be more when you move in with your mum.
If you are living at your mum's will you be paying her rent and money towards bills?

I don't think entitledto.com will help here. The situation is complicated that the OP has income from her rental property. She also has a property she could live in and so wouldn't get housed.
I don't think she'd get HB as she's not living in the property. Plus it sounds like she's got a mortgage on it so would only get help with the interest on that mortgage.

OP it really does depend a lot on your circumstances, if you working or not.

If you're not working see if you can get yourself a 16+ hr a week job. It makes it so much easier re claiming WTC & CTC rather than IS.

I would suggest your local CAB for more advice re the property you own nd how it affects what you can and can't claim.

I am not working at the moment but am hoping to start part time soon. I have a catering business.

I don't have a mortgage but do have a big personal loan.

I will be paying my mum rent and bills but less than I have been.

I'm not sure what I will do with my property when the lease expires but doubt I'll move back as it is an open plan one bedroom house.

My bills will be less with the cheaper rent but I now don't have the maternity allowance so am worse off.
