Does anybody know if you can still get housing benefit if you live with parents?

I haven't even discussed this with my Mum or anything yet, but it was just an idea. They own a house much bigger than what they need. I was thinking, if I were to move in, with my 2 children. Could I stil claim housing benefit? I would need to pay rent there as they certainly wouldn't be living rent free, but if I could get the rent all paid for by housing benefits, that would help me get sorted money wise. Currently they are going to be paying about £700 a month for my house and thats not covering all the rent. So it would be saving the council money, as well as me.

But does anybody know if they do that? I wasn't sure if it would look dodgy being my parents?

This is from the Directgov website ...

Who isn't eligible

You can't usually get Housing Benefit if:

you have savings of over £16,000, unless you are getting the 'guarantee credit' of Pension Credit

you live in the home of a close relative

you're a full-time student (unless you're disabled or have children)

you're an asylum seeker or are sponsored to be in the UK

Oh dear. Oh well. Shame as it would save them so much money! The rent at my mums would of been a lot less for them to pay for! Although I can sort of understand it cause people could lie about how much they pay.

Oh well, there goes that idea!
