It's our 10 year anniversary and I want to find a romantic place to have a meal in London. Do you have any recommendations?

Clos Maggiore if you want central London perhaps? I haven’t been recently though and I know how things can change.

Brasserie zedel

Quaglino’s is fab, it’s near Green Park

What's your fave cuisine?

We do love Italian but I'm gluten free so makes it a bit more tricky. I just love food tbh 🤤

I also came to recommend Clos Maggiore

Going to need a bit more information OP, London has so much choice and so many restaurants that could be considered 'romantic' that you're going to have to narrow it down for us including an idea of budget. Are you after fancy/ high end with the chance for both of you to get dressed up and have starched table cloths and waiters with cloches etc? Or is your vibe more a cool cocktail bar with elaborate sharing plates? Or a noisy / chaotic packed out place where you sit super close? Or a little terraced alleyway with a secret tiny restaurant? I'd consider all these romantic but depends a lot on your taste and stage in relationship (in our early days DH and I didn't have much money so it was a lovely treat to go to Chinatown and get noodles or a few dim sum baskets from a small place or to one of the tiny family run Greek/Italian places on Charlotte Street with red tablecloths and a smiling Grandmother in the corner and drink cheap red wine, I'd consider these very romantic but if I was to send you there now as a grown up couple it might not quite hit your spot.

For what it's worth my top recommendations would be:

For old-fashioned luxury (and definitely not looking out of place/country visitor if you want to go very dressy, which is not the case in a lot of London now), The Ritz

For art deco glamour, booths, champagne, Bob Bob Ricard (or Brasserie Zedel for slightly more casual but still very cool and French Art Deco). Or Quaglinios.

For chaotic fun and the best dim sum, pretty anywhere in Chinatown, particularly perhaps Dumplings Legend.

For the best view, any of the restaurants in the Shard

I was in Quaglinos last week, the food and entertainment were great. Love Zedels too, but both very big restaurants. If you want cosy with music/dancing Little Italy opposite Ronnie Scott’s is good.

HundredMilesAnHour · 20/02/2026 17:16

I’m baffled why people think Brasserie Zedel is romantic? It’s like dining in an airport. A nice airport but an airport nevertheless.🙄

The cliched romantic restaurant in London is Clos Maggiore.

Also look at the Bleeding Heart, Kettners and Noble Rot. I actually quite like the Ivy (as in the original one rather than the gazillion branches) for a romantic meal out.

Pollyanna87 · 20/02/2026 17:18

Wiltons is very old-school and feels ‘special’. It’s seafood so should be fine for gluten-free?

My personal favourites are China Tang and Bob Bob Ricard. Brasserie Zedel is always good.

The bar is nice and intimate at Zedel. I love the restaurant but it maybe is a bit loud and crowded to be romantic.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 20/02/2026 17:29

Not Brasserie Zedel - it used to be fun (but not romantic unless you find huge and busy and buzzing romantic) but it had really gone downhill last time we went.

Agree with PP that more info is needed. I’d be hoping for a recommendation for a lovely little neighbourhood place, personally, but it really depends on the vibe/area you want.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 20/02/2026 17:30

The Zedel bar is nice, if you can fight your way through the tourists wanting instagram pictures.

Lcw29 · 20/02/2026 17:57

I think for us , it doesn't have to be really expensive or fancy. Not tiny portions that don't fill you up either. Somewhere that feels intimate despite the hustle and bustle. If that's possible ?

Clos is good but you need to sit in the courtyard and they don’t take bookings for that area. I have been twice recently and did get the courtyard but they won’t guarantee it.

ApolloandDaphne · 20/02/2026 18:08

What about Murano if you like Italian?

AlfieAnnieRose · 20/02/2026 18:32

We went to La Poule au Pot after seeing it recommended on here and really liked it

Maybe flour & grape!
