Hi I want to take my children to the princess Diana memorial playground but I read recently that children over 12 aren’t allowed in the Diana memorial playground which I didn’t know before over 12 is classed as a “adult” and you can’t have more “adults” than children in a group, how does that work I have 4 kids age 8, 11, 13 and 14 will we not be allowed in with the older 2? Thanks

Surely you have a 8, 11 and a "12" year old with you that day...And you and your 14 year old are supervising... ?

Comefromaway · 23/08/2025 00:20

You will be fine. It’s large parties with more adults than children that’s the issue.

Children over the age of 12 are not allowed and they're very strict about it.

The not allowing more adults than children in a group is a separate issue.

They're not saying 12 year olds are classed as adults.

Yeah I just meant by the parks standards if they don’t allow kids over 12 will they be counted as adults so can’t take my 8/11 year old

Given that there's nothing there for the older two to do, why take them anyway?

Leave them outside chilling in the park for an hour and take the two younger ones if they want to go.

AintNoPunshineWhenShesGone · 23/08/2025 00:30

I'd let the older ones go for a stroll round the park or give them some money and send them to the cafe at the entrance or the Lido cafe (which is better).

There's also seating and a kiosk at the entrance to the playground if they want to hang around there.

No, only actual adults can supervise children.

murasaki · 23/08/2025 00:37

You can take the younger two, they'd have to wait outside.

Not because you'd have too many adults, they aren't adults, but because they are over 12 so not allowed in at all. Even if you had 5 under 12s, your eldest two still wouldn't be allowed in.

Lollipopps · 23/08/2025 00:37

Older 2 are autistic so unfortunately leaving them to wonder round the park isn’t an option so we will give it a miss.

I don't think the Diana water area has an age limit and that's fun on a hot day too so you could take them there instead.

NuffSaidSam · 23/08/2025 00:42

Holland Park also has a superb playground and no gatekeeper.

Lollipopps · 23/08/2025 00:47

We live near lots of water parks so wouldn’t need to visit for that reason, I use to take my 8 year old when she was younger so she remembers it and wanted to see it again before they change it but will give it a miss.
