London transport advice please.

Hello all.

I am looking to go to London in May, probably a mid week term time Tuesday/Wednesday (if that makes any difference!)

I have been looking at trains and it's far too expensive so we've decided to drive.

Could anybody give me some suggestions of where to park please?

I will be travelling down from Yorkshire on the M1 and probably hitting the M25.

In an ideal world we would park at the first reasonable tube/overground station and use public transport from there.

Would prefer a shopping centre or something similar even at a cost than leaving the car on a road.

Any Londoners able to give any suggestions please?

Thank you

First thought that came to my mind was to park at Luton airport parkway but still a reasonable cost on the trains coming in from there.

its £10.10 to park there for the day but imagine tickets in will be quite a bit but does mean you don’t have to drive on the m25!

Stratford Westfield or White City Westfield// it’s £25 for 24 hours and the latter in the central line so easy to get everywhere in central.

Brent cross shopping Centre might work, parking looks free and it’s on the Northern line. You stay on the M1 into London.

That’s genius!

@Andnowshesatoddler M1 starts (or ends from your direction) at Brent Cross.
I'd park at the shopping centre and then tube in.

Agree with pp above on Brent Cross or also look for a car park near Edgware (top of the northern line - not to be confused with Edgware Road). It's basically a straight road up and down to Yorkshire from there. I think there is an NCP car park (iirc)?

Also, if you were considering trains, are you using railcards / deals to reduce the cost? I take the DC from London to York every couple of months to see the grandparents and either a family railcard or a two together railcard knocks enough off one journey to pay for itself. So then you get all the savings for the return journey. Then we book off peak times etc. I think our Easter tickets were going to be £60 return which is about as cheap as I can ever find them now.

Thank you!
That's what I have been trying to remember Brent Cross parked there many years ago.

Are you coming for the day ? Edgware has a commuter car park £6 per day or £12 in the main car park if places are full. Its behind sainsburys and end of.northern line. There's also stanmore station.

There are quite a few websites where you can book someone's driveway such as parkonmydrive.com or just park.com or yourparkingspace.com. This could be a good option.

Thank you that's very helpful.
Yes we're just going probably getting there 9ish and coming back about 6ish.
Very rare child free day and evening and haven't been to London in years!
