Hi everyone!

I was wondering if I could ask for some advice on an area to live in South East London. I will be moving from Leeds for a job at Lewisham hospital. I dont know London very well but Im really excited about the prospect of moving down! However when I went for my interview I wasn't sure if Lewisham itself was the right fit for me and although nice enough area I really couldnt see myself living there...
I was wondering if anyone couls suggest an area around Lewisham which may fit me better?

I am a 29 year old female, single and would like to live somewhere with a buzz/where there's a lot to do - pubs/restaurants/comedy/live music but where you can also get to central London quite easily.. so preferrebly near a train/tube.

I had heard Bromley was nice and also went for a look around there, it seemed really nice but possibly more of a family/settled down vibe?

Thank you so much
L X

You can just walk down through the park to Greenwich from Black heath though?

Personally I'd rather live in blackheath than Greenwich. Greenwich is as you said very busy and touristy

Me too ,Blackheath over Greenwich. You're also more likely to gel with one or more of the other flatmates rather than just two of you and hope for the best.

Thanks. How long is the walk from Blackheath to Greenwich? My Google maps shows its about an hour? Or are there shortcuts along the way?

What's the commute from each one?

Blackheath is lovely and less touristy than Greenwich, but both have their advantages.

I'd write a pro/con list for each one and decide which had more advantages.
I did this recently and included things like distance to transport, to work, to a supermarket, to a park etc etc.

In your position I'd also consider the price of each one and what you'd prefer- multiple housemates or just one.

And - it doesn't have to be forever!

@Lalaluna the two areas are immediately adjacent to each other (ie the greenwich / Blackheath divide is down my street!) but from blackheath village to greenwich town centre takes me 30 minutes to walk. 5 mins to cycle (downhill on a cycle late wheeee)
