North London - Where to move to?

I’m in desperate need of ideas… myself, my husband and my 1 year old have outgrown our little 2 bed flat. We’d like to move back up to North London, preferably to somewhere with green spaces nearby, cafes and nice neighbourhoods.

Sadly we can’t afford Crouch End, Muswell Hill or Stoke Newington. We’re looking for a 3 bed house for around £700K or less. Any ideas?

Hendon and Mill Hill maybe? Unexciting but have green space and good schools and there are some houses for the £700k mark, but might be fixer uppers.

It's more easterly, but I loved living in Walthamstow and it's improved a lot since I was there in terms of shops, cafes, restaurants and entertainment, and you can get more for your budget there. Primary schools are good and secondaries improving, with a few good ones IIRC.

Thank you@Echobelly! What’s Mill Hill like? A couple of people have recommended it but I can’t get a clear idea of what it’s like.

Mill Hill is very green mostly though there is a high street part I don't know very well.

Connected to Northern Line via a branch line at Mill Hill East and there's a huge housing development next to that which seems quite nice housing and space wise but would have been much better with some of its own infrastructure like even a few cafes or corner shops, so it's very dormitory like rather than a neighbourhood. There's also a rail link at Mill Hill Broadway where the high street is.

Seem to be a fair amount of good primaries around, only state secondary I'm aware of is Mill Hill County that is generally well reputed and was on the list for our kids.

I can heartily recommend Enfield. Just north of Enfield Town you have loads of green spaces (Hilly Fields, Forty Hall, Whitewebs woods, etc) as it's on the edge of the green belt - but still well connected to central London. House prices are definitely in your price range.

Bush Hill Park and Winchmore Hill (slightly further south) are also really pretty but a bit more expensive.

True, I grew up in Enfield and it is affordable.

I don't know how to link to another thread but there is a long one in a similar topic two spots down in this section. You might find it useful.
