Where to eat with young children and these requirements...

We will be at the Transport Museum until 6pm next Saturday. We would like to be eating by 7pm ideally. Children age 4, 6, 8. Youngest is a chicken nuggets kinda kid. Middle a little more adventurous. Oldest loves meat and fish and is very adventurous!
Me, prefer veggie food, will eat chicken. Hate being given "vegan" alternatives (like cheese! Just give me regular cheese please!).
Other half, not fussy at all!
I'm thinking American Diner type places, possibly Italian. Definitely not Indian or Asian cuisine. Would prefer not a chain type of place. Or certainly not a chain we can get in Manchester anyway.
Unfortunately everywhere I have tried on the big standard list of places to eat with kids have either closed, or are fully booked for the time we need. So far, Rainforest Cafe, All Star Lanes, Planet Hollywood, Hard Rock Cafe, Bubba Gump Shrimp, Sticky Fingers all out for the above reasons.
Please help a desperate person out here before I lose the will to live!

You’ve dodged a bullet, all the places you mentioned are bloody awful!
I’ll have a think & get back with better ones

nancy75 · 25/07/2021 00:27

Italian www.rossopomodoro.co.uk/

American diner is more difficult, there used to be one called Diner but I think it’s closed, there are the usual burger places like shake shack, honest burger or meat liquor

HappyMcflappy · 25/07/2021 00:32

Big Easy is just around the corner.

nancy75 · 25/07/2021 00:39

Do Big Easy do really little kid friendly? It’s been a long time since I’ve needed to order from a kids menu

FizzyPink · 25/07/2021 00:43

Agree that all of those places are terrible.

Buns and Buns is quite fun and does pizza for the plainer eaters or Bancone if you’re open to pasta. Otherwise better than average chains would be Wahaca, Bills, The Real Greek or Honest Burger.

TheHomeEdit · 25/07/2021 00:44

I can’t remember the place we ate near there, but have spotted Gordon Ramsey Street burger and Maxwell’s which are both burger / diner places which might be worth looking at? Sticks n sushi has fun light up tables (or did have) and the food can be good even for fussy children - the chicken sticks are not to out there for example.

nancy75 · 25/07/2021 00:56

I think wahaca would be a problem for the littlest one. Bills does a bit of everything.

ShaunaTheSheep · 25/07/2021 01:10

Brown's, on St Martin's Lane?

ThisMustBeMyDream · 25/07/2021 17:40

Thanks for the suggestions! We have 2 possibilities from the above recommendations, Maxwells and Bills. Any more suggestions before I book?
Thanks!

Okay, so we are back to zero options! Maxwells is booked up, and Bills has nothing on the menu suitable for one of the party Sad . Can anyone recommend something that we can get to within 30 mins of the transport museum?

I’m surprised Bills won’t do - it’s very kid friendly with a decent range for adults.

Neondisco · 26/07/2021 22:03

Sagar

LittleBearPad · 26/07/2021 22:03

There used to be a restaurant - Tuttons that might do?

ThisMustBeMyDream · 26/07/2021 22:04

Ignore me! I was looking at the wrong menu. I think we are now sorted!! Thank goodness, because I was losing the will!

Or a Cote? They’re pretty good for kids

Phineyj · 26/07/2021 22:05

There used to be a friendly Italian restaurant on Villers Street (to the side of Charing Cross Station). I'll see if I can find it.

NakedAttraction · 26/07/2021 22:06

Balthazar? We always do Transport Museum on a Sunday morning followed by brunch! But I’m sure their all day menu is decent too.

Phineyj · 26/07/2021 22:08

www.lulivo.uk this is it. It says they have a kids' menu but it's not on their site, so check.

Is this the same as the one in Leicester Square? We’ve been going there for years and I was so sad it was closed last time we went.
Phineyj · 03/08/2021 09:25

No I don't think so. But I did find when DD was little that independent Italian owned places could be lovely with small DC - one of those stereotypes that exists for a reason I guess.

Comefromaway · 03/08/2021 09:38

Its exactly the same branding as the Leicester Square one. Maybe they had two branches.

Indian restaurants are probably the only place you can find that kind of variety. If not try Yo sushi - they don’t just do sushi they do vegetarian food, noodles / breaded chicken and fish, and lots of other stuff too.

Cafe Murano. It's a couple of mins walk from Cov Garden, it's amazing food, and the kids £10 lunch menu is either chicken Milanese (basically a huge chicken nugget if you need to sell it to the smallest one), or three pasta choices, all delicious. Plenty of really good veggie choices for adults. It's Angela Hartnett's 'cheap' option, so not Michelin starred, but gorgeous. We took three kids there the other day, was fab.

Happy36 · 03/08/2021 09:52

Maxwell's - book

ThisMustBeMyDream · 03/08/2021 14:19

Thanks, we ate last Saturday! Ended up at Bill's.
