Earpiercing, needles, London restrictions and recommendations

DD wants a second hole in her earlobes and is threatening to do it herself. She is the same age as I was when I did mine myself, and it's nearly the start of the summer holidays. So I'm going to agree, on condition of her having it done by needle at a proper piercing parlour.

I live in one of the London boroughs which has a stipulation that there shall be no piercing of under-16s other than earlobe by gun. So I doubt anywhere locally would do this, even with me present.

Can anyone recommend a piercing parlour, in a borough which does not have that kind of restriction?

(Or can simply say for sure which boroughs have it and which don't)

Also are they likely to check ID of a teen who could easily pass for 16 and who has a parent present (I'm planning on going with her anyhow)

I disagree. Cold Steel in Camden is excellent. I've been pierced there for years, cleaner than hospital rooms I've been in and very professional.

On that note, I don't think they would pierce under 16s.

I think she might mean that Camden is one of the boroughs which exclude needle piercing for U16s as a condition in the special licence.

Do you know any in Camden which definitely do U16s? (Cold Steel's website is the least informative of the many I have looked at in recent days).

Thanks, that is what I mean. Camden has the no under 16s policy. Now DD is 16 she goes to Nemesis. They are really helpful and friendly

Ahh I see, apologies. In my experience Cold Steel are ridiculously busy and haven't needed to advertise much, hence the crappy website.

We followed one of the recommendation said on this thread and she was pieced at Shival

Greenwich is a borough which does not uniformly ban needle piercing of U16s, but they must be accompanied by an adult who much sign a consent form. It is then piercers' discretion his young they go, and staff at Shiva are happy to pierce teenagers' ears.

I chose them for easier journey than Croydon (where I found a place that said it could, so I assume Croydon is another borough without the ban)

DD's ears were more bruised than with first (gun) piercing, just at the back, but no swelling and they've settled now with no sign of any other complication. She has noticed that on one side the backs of the earrings are rather closer together than the other. I've told her this doesn't matter

My thanks again to posters for their help.
