How much support to expect from teacher

I’ve emailed my daughters year 1 teacher 3 times (once a few weeks ago and once on Monday) also left a message on google classroom and not had any response at all, not even an acknowledgement of the emails. The messages were asking for some support / advice about something my daughter is struggling with. I know teachers are probably busy now but am I being unreasonable to expect some kind of response? I haven’t been that impressed with the school overall and this just adds to my thinking that perhaps I should move schools, as my youngest is due to start there in September. Not sure if I am overreacting!

Well I respond to queries on the same day, always, despite also teaching a keyworker bubble full time.

If I were you I’d call the school today to check the email address & ask when you should expect a reply.

They are meant to be supportive and developmental tool which will assist you in improving your teaching and learning practice. Most often support plans will include a number of objectives which you will have to meet within a set time frame.

DS's YR teacher responds on the same day of early the next morning. I would check contact details, then try the other class teacher (that might help nudge your teacher), then Headteacher. Maybe there's another reason, but I wouldn't be happy to wait that long for a response.

We use google classroom and someone always gets back to us very quickly. If it's not easy to explain in a quick written message, someone will usually phone home to do it that way.

Have you used the "Private Message" function on the classroom? Sometimes messages in the main classroom stream can get lost amongst the 101 messages where the children are busy typing "hi" and trying out the emojis. Or is that just our classroom? :o

If the email address is correct and there's been no answer, I wouldn't be impressed either.

Google classrooms is hard to spot messages on work, I don't get any alert that I have had a message sent, it is very easy to miss one however many times I check and recheck! What email address did you use? The school email or the google classroom email? If it was the google classroom email, she may not have an actual inbox although it looks like an email address. In my google classroom there is no where for me to receive actual emails

Thanks everyone, I emailed the main school email address and that prompted her to reply, she did apologise for the delay and said she thought she had replied to the first email (which I sent weeks ago). The comment I made on google classroom was a private comment so I guess she may have missed that. Still not very impressed though!
