Why don’t they vaccinate all teachers as a priority?

Start now so the kids can go back to school ASAP?

It’s not about teachers being vaccinated. It’s about large groups of children gathering in poorly ventilated spaces and passing the virus around and then taking it home to their grandparents!
I’m a teacher and am in support of the current school closure because it’s better and safer for the wider community. I’m not worried about my own health as much as those more at risk!

@Jelly4444

We can't open schools when the teachers are vaccinated. So the teachers aren't a priority because the kids can carry and spread covid. The idea that schools are a safe place is rubbish. We all know it!
But if by the Summer Term the vulnerable are already vaccinated, and teachers (4x more cases than avg adults) are too, the number of people at risk from schools opening becomes vanishingly small.

When would you open schools @Jelly4444 ?

I think it's the logistics more than anything. I don't know anyone who is opposed in principle to prioritising vaccines for key employment groups such as school staff, but I know a lot who struggle to see how it would reasonably be done.
