has anyone tried Outschool? It is mainly US-based online classes, with different classes for mainly primary school children.

My daughter tried a class today which was on large dog breeds. It was a great class but she was the only one to attend. It cost £6 for an hour's lesson which was good value, but I think she would have got more out of it if there had been other children present. I'm wondering whether to sign her up for more classes - she may like the exercise/yoga classes and craft.

Just wondering if anyone else has tried these classes?

DS did a few over last lockdown an really enjoyed them.
We liked Mr. Powells history class.
There's also so fun a sociable Lego clubs

Mine really enjoy them. Agree they are best when other children attend. Maybe we could share classes we have found good on this thread? Or even classes our children are booked on but where they need more students?

My 7 year old daughter has just asked me to book her on this class again as she loves it so much outschool.com/classes/the-imaginarium-a-world-of-pure-imagination-CmhMn1vZ?sectionUid=9dda32fc-217b-4b17-aabc-d5a4e882dbb6#usoJXLafjD

Mine really enjoyed them.

We like that they are low commitment.

So she will just pick one that she fancies that week. If she enjoys it, we pick more from the teacher. If she doesn’t, it’s not a big loss.

All have been good or great - and really varied motivating topics.

KeyboardWorriers · 10/01/2021 14:35

Yes that's what we do, we pick the "one time" classes. I am letting them pick one each a week on a subject that interests them. It's fun to teach them to follow their interests Smile

I also love that, at a time when we barely leave our village, my children are chatting to and laughing with children from all over the world

interesting to read everyone's responses.

we have booked my daughter on a six-week 'book group' type class which will involve reading and discussing a novel. the only problem is, my daughter will be the only one in the class. we have already bought the book and started reading it... if we cancelled we would lose 1/3 of the cost so I am reluctant to.

You could try sharing the class? On Mumsnet and other places?

My daughter has only had one class that ended up being 1:1 (she's done a lot) but she really enjoyed it (she is a total chatterbox though!)

KeyboardWorriers · 11/01/2021 23:05

If you are happy to let me know the class I will try sharing it too and my husband knows people at his work looking for good classes

jclm · 12/01/2021 23:43

Thanks all.
Luckily the class has had a time change so we were able to get a full refund. We have signed up to other classes instead, with other students attending

My kid does some classes on out school and loves them. Sometimes there are more kids, I think they are starting to get more UK exposure now so hopefully more kids will sign up at UK times.

Nonamesavail · 13/01/2021 07:31

I'd not heard of it. This looks really good. Will share it with the local pages.
