MS teams AND photoshop

My DD who is 16 is struggling with ms teams on her phone. They show presentations whilst in the lessons which are different to see on the phone. The sound quality is not great either.

But

She is also doing art GCSE and probably A level next year so needs photoshop (strongly advised by teacher in preparation for the GCSE)

Budget is very tight

Any suggestions for any technology that i could buy ( would need to support word and emails) one computer between 3 kids (school shut) and me (WFH) isn't going well!

i'm a graphic designer and would suggest at least 8GB. In a way if you want to future proof the machine a bit you could go higher (sometimes you can upgrade RAM later). Look for a fairly decent graphics chip that will cope with it. Reddit might be the best place to ask, find a suitable thread for tecchies to ask - the advice can be quite specialised.

I have heard that you can often get high spec ex-company laptops (like Dell) for example on ebay second hand, that more than match the quality of new.

Also Amazon Warehouse has some great (with warranty) deals on returned laptops that are like new but with a hefty discount.

For Photoshop try to get the student version - much cheaper. Usually you can install it on two machines with one key code, so team up with someone or something and split the fee?

And yes go with a core i5 as a minimum! Core i3 is rather dated now and may be too slow. Core i7 is good but more professional level, but it may last longer.

PS Laptop over ipad all the way.

PS Gumtree or FB often have good deals on second hand used laptops. Why buy new if you can get the same much cheaper?
