KS 2 TEACHER in BRIGHTON area seeks job share partner...

Hi. I've been at the same school, teaching upper KS2 for years and really fancy a changing school. It's so frustrating to see so many full time jobs advertised, and almost no part time positions.

I'm starting to think that the way forward is to find a job share partner and then apply togther for a f/t post.

I thought that good ol' MN might be able to put me in touch with somene... Bit of a long shot,I know.

my sister who sometimes posts on here might be interested - she was previously jobsharing in ks2 I think and is now looking to go back to work. I'll point her in this direction...

that'd be great, thanks.

Hi Catinhell, I'm Pollyanna's sis.

I am looking for p/t teaching at the moment, but tbh having already job-shared I don't fancy it again. I found that it was way more work than full-time! Planning was twice as difficult, we had to meet to discuss various things the whole time (this inevitably happened outside of one of our paid time), and I felt I spent the whole time trying to prepare for my job share's lessons the next day/or pick up the pieces from her last lessons/day. This wasn't because she was in anyway bad, it was just the nature of job-sharing I think. When you teach full time, you are only answerable to yourself- for example you can over-run a lesson and allocate 15 mins the next moring to finish off- this is much more difficult in a job share- every minute needs to be plannedand stuck to!
Of course this is my opinion and I'm sure plenty of job shares work really well. I'm searching for the elusive PPA cover role at the moment, failing that I guess I will wait a bit longer then go back full-time.
Good luck whatever you decide, and sorry I can't help more.

thanks, jennifer. i quite understand. i have job shared for 8 yrs- the last 5 very succesfully. my current job share is the dep head and at school f/t, which makes hand over easier.

my first 2 yrs job sharing were with harder work.
