Softplay type place for older kids?

Hi Glasgow Mums! Those of you who know me will know that my dd2 has had a hip problem for the last 2 years but yesterday we were given the almost "all clear" by the doctor and she is allowed to RUN again .... amazing!!!

One thing she has really missed has been going to Soft Play places and she has asked to do that this weekend.

But I've realised that the places we used to go to are all too "small" for her now, especially with 2 years worth of pent up energy to let out!

We have used "Big Adventure" in Linwood which is great but a bit of a drive (we're Southside). Wondered if anyone knew of anywhere else in Glasgow or thereabouts which is suitable for older kids (she's 6, also have a 8 and 10 year old).

Thanks!

the one in partick is definately too wee for her. my dd was at a party at whale of time a couple of months ago and she seemed to like it but i would still say it was to young for her. shes also been to a party at the one in clydebank which seemed good for their age but its hard to keep an eye on them.
thats the only ones i've been to,but i've heard good reviews about sporty kids, however i have also heard some really bad ones aswell.
sorry its not much help is it

oh and woo hoo for dd2, i know a certain wee girl who will love to run about with her

glasgowlass · 26/02/2010 20:51

Brilliant news re your DD!

Is Cumbernauld any good? Adventure Planet not been but heard its fabulous.

I have taken DS to Run Amok in Cambuslang and it seemed pretty good.

Adventure Planet is really good and ideal for children of different ages. It has 2 zones, one for children under 115cm and another for children over that height. It has some really long, tall slides which look great fun, and has a fantastic cafe for the grown ups.

It's a bit of a trek if you're in the southside or west like me, but well worth it.

Kirmcc - that would be great sometime. Dd2 will currently run anywhere - today it was on the walk to our local Morrisons!

If you want to meet up, drop me a CAT - I always liek meeting up

Not great now as weather rotten but you should take her to Kelburn Country Park. They have a fantatis adventure playground. Not soft play I know but a really great place for climbing and running! Added bonus of the Secret Forest there which is also fab!

Socks and Slides in Dumbarton has had good reviews from friends - lots of natural light and a ball cleaning machine.

Weegie - too late for this weekend but there has just been an amazing soft play opened up in Motherwell - I took ds there last week and had to drag him out after 2 hours - Rainforest Adventure.

Apparently its "the" place, for 6/7/8 year olds at the moment, they have a zip wire that goes across the room, motorized cars, huge soft place and a lovely cafe - well worth it!!

midnightexpress · 28/02/2010 20:41

My two love Run Amok, but most of the children there are definitely younger than 6 I'd say. Good to get some other places though. The Motherwell place sounds great Geordie.

geordieminx · 28/02/2010 20:49

It was honestly fab! Website is here

Normally I loathe softplay as C ends up hanging off my leg, not wanting to go and play - but as I said I had to carry him out after 2 hours - tears and snot flying.

Its only been open a few months so its immaculately clean, helpful staff, lovely food, and huge play area - didnt see C for most of the time I was there! It was £4.50 but that was for 2 hours so not too bad at all. We were there for it opening, as were quite a few others so obviously popular.

Oh and its open til 7pm every night

midnightexpress · 28/02/2010 21:00

With you on the loathing there Geordie: it's the smell of wee, so one that's new definitely appealing . The boys, OTOH, think it is heaven, so I'm starting to come round to the idea of sitting with tea and a bun and a copy of Grazia while they hare about for a couple of hours. It could be quite therapeutic, I reckon.

Kelburn Castle looks good too - the website says there's a playbarn there too now.

i've heard good reviews about rainforest adventure aswell apparently its near airbles railway station which i can get to from exhibition centre so will probably try it out during the easter holidays, if not before it.

prettybird · 06/03/2010 22:46

Glad to hear that dd2 is cleared to run again !
