Any advice on local independent primaries?

Hi

After hearing back on the local state school we've been allocated through the local council admissions process we're now looking at local indpendent primaries as a backup plan for our DS who is due to start school this Sept.

Other than the schools' own website (not exactly unbiased!) it's proving tricky to get hold of info to help us compare them. Ones i'm considering so far are: Colstons, Torwood, St Ursulas, Gracefields

So, ANY feedback on these or any other local independents you know of would be v welcome to this stressed out mum!

Hi runoutofideas,

just been to an open morning at St U today. The line on the academy application is that they're putting in an 'expression of interest' in becoming an academy and can't say any more til they get a response.

Not sure what the timescales for hearing back are though ....

Have a son at St U's in the senior school, he is very happy there. I trust what the school board are saying especially now they have got rid of the chair who blabbed all the academy stuff before thinking it through. If you are still unsure after the open day, you could try another similar Ind primary sch in Winterboure - Silverhill school takes children from 6months to 11years, has lovely grounds, an ofsted 'outstanding' and teachers who have been there for years, both mine went there before moving on to secondary. Really nice school, well worth a look.
