Can anybody recommend a place to fix the big scrape in my car without breaking the bank.

I have just had the most shit day.

At least one person in our household has been ill now for 7 weeks - apart from 2 days a couple of weeks back.

DS is really unsettled by all this, and I am 25weeks pg and finding it all a bit wearing.

Anyway, that's irrelevant. But I was having a crap day until it got even worse by me scraping the side of our (relatively) new car at the nursery car park.

Does anybody know a good and cheap body shop where I can get it fixed?

TIA

Oh no Mawbroon have a couple of .

If its not too deep, James Fenton who has a Chips Away franchise07738921529 is really good. He comes around and will polish and spray it out and is a lot cheaper than getting it done at the garage. Get him to give you a quote, he is very reliable.

Hope things get better.

Cheers
RM

Oh dear. I scraped another person's car quite badly whilst parking outside our house a while back, whoops. I remember the bill wasn't bad considering and it came from a place on Manderston Street off the bottom of Leith Walk. Sorry can't remember the exact name of the garage.

Nah, it needs beaten out rookie. I'll give him a call anyway and see what he says though.

Geek- I'll see if I can find that place in the yellow pages.

thanks both.

One advantage of dh being ill is that he wasn't that bothered when I told him that I'd scraped the car. He hasn't even been out to look at it!

Hi, read this the other day and then went and reversed into a lamp post. Have scraped the side of car and bumper and cant decide whether to claim on insurance and get it all fixed, patch it up or what. So, wondered how you got on with yours? How easy / pricey is it to get fixed? Thanks for any info.

I have booked mine in at a place called Graysmill coachworks near Murrayfield somewhere. It's a bit tricky to find!

I used them years ago, and had forgotten all about them.

He said that two panels have to come off, be straightened out and then resprayed and he quoted me £250 for it which i thought was reasonable and certainly not worth clamining on the insurance.

The downside is that he can't do it until 9th Dec. The phone number is 623 7300 if you are interested.

Finally got the car fixed, and you would never know there was anything wrong. Would recommend the guy that did it.

But - why oh why are coachworks always up a wee lane somewhere, chock-a-block full of cars with no room to manoeuvre ?

Are they trying to create more business or something?

Glad you got it fixed mb, I don't know why they hide them, I think they make Kwikfit extra obvious so that even clumsy drivers like myself can steer their vehicle in and get royally ripped off for new tyres.

I've never got round to getting mine fixed yet and have just been driving round with it scraped - will give that place a call. Did you have to take it in for a quote first? Thanks.

mawbroon · 17/12/2009 10:43

I did take it in for a quote first, then the guy gave me a date to book the car in.

I am glad we got it fixed because it was already starting to rust which is never good.....

Will make it my new years resolution to get on with it. Thanks!
