Nurseries Wimbledon

Hello, I'm moving to SW19 in two weeks' time and have checked out a few nurseries. I liked Playdays on Queens Rd but have just seen their Ofsted report which is rather unsatisfactory. Does anyone have children in this nursery and would recommend it? Thanks

One of the really good things about Merton is their nursery provision - all primary schools have a nursery attached to them. (Competition for places is, though, I think very high.

My DC went to the Castle Kindergarten on Henfield Road (private - because we hadn't realised we could get a state place at the time ) and that was fab. However, it depends where you're going to be living as to whether that's convenient for you.

Pelham and Wimbledon Chase are worth investigating from the pov of state nursery - they are both excellent schools with good OFSTED reports.

My DS went to that one, Dolphinus. It had just opened at the time and it was good. We had some issues with them but not related to childcare at all. (Although I wrote and complained to Oftsed.) I went to visit their new one on W'don Hill for DD1 (or DD2, can't remember) and didn't like it as much as the Queen's Rd setting. Some of the staff from 8 years ago are still there, I think that's v good. Oak Tree at St Mary's is good too but they have a long waiting list now.

thanks, I'm looking for a place next to Wimbledon mainline station for a 1yr old, so to be exact a day nursery. prob is waiting lists so am restricted by availability!!

My friends had babies at the other one on Queen's Rd (Busy Bees or Playbox, sthg like that, I've moved area and forgot completely). Have you visited Playdays? It used to be a very nice set-up, although may have changed these past 4 years. There's also Dee's on Mansel rd. I visited it twice and didn't like it too much but I had friends who took their kids there so it suits other people. For DD1 I took her to Carousel in Morden for a year, big inconvenience but only one with no waiting list and that I liked.

agree I find the Queens Rd setting quite nice as small which I think will help settling in. Was surprised by Ofsted report but apparently they are addressing the issues and will have a re-visit this summer.

You've made me curious now, I'll have a look over the report tonight. (With us it was the fact they didn't agree to be named as the nursery of choice for DS's Statement of SEN. Pretty angry about that one, he'd been there for 3 years almost. It was for the best as it happens as he went to nursery at the local v good state school, but really annoyed with the manageress at the time.)

Dolphinus · 28/05/2009 14:59

what is the name of that local state school
?
