I am planning to organise my daughters 2nd birthday party in June. There will be equal number of kids and adults so cannot just do a kids party. I was thinking about an outdoor picnic in the park or somewhere nice where both kids and adults can have a good time. The only issue would be the weather, if it rains then I need to have a back up plan. Please please - would love any suggestions on suitable venues, where there is a restaurant/cafe nearby should it rain.

What about Marble Hill Park? There is a special enclosed section for little children and there is a cafe about 20m away. There is a play ground a few hundred metres away too.
Hope that helps.

I would suggest Kew Gardens or Pembroke Lodge (Richmond Park).

Thanks for your suggestions LLAJ and pcworld. yes I have Richmond park in mind. Haven't thought of Marble hill park before. Both sound good. I will enquire if they would allow a proper picnic in Kew Grdns.

we have picnic'ed on the lawn and back into the trees opposite the orangery in Kew gardens. Nice and close to restaurant for hot cups of tea for adults. But if you have lots of adults it may work out too expensive.

Chiswick park house has a cafe in the ground with a lawn in fornt where you can picnic - no dogs allowed in that biut so good for small children.

Car park is off A4 heading out of town.

Thanks all for your ideas. Fingers crossed - for a sunny saturday - we might head towards Richmond Park for the picnic. Kew Grdns would be expensive for us, have to pay the tickets for the entire grp - the number of invities seem to keep going up by the day!!

What about Bushy Park? There are lots of grassy bits for blankets and plenty of space if you wanted to organise party games and stuff.
