Play parks for toddler

Now that the sun is out I have the urge to take my 22mo to a play park (probably a foolish urge - but she likes it!)

I'm in South Edinburgh and tend to go to either the Meadows (can get v busy) or the Inch. I also like Inverleith but it is a bit of a trek.

Any recommendation for nice, clean, safe and not too busy parks in Edinburgh - doesn't have to just be on the southside as we can travel.

Also have a 6wo so need to be able to sit and feed her while dd1 runs around!

Thank you ladies.

There is a nice park at falcon Avenue in Morningside...just at the end of the street one (or maybe 2) down from Waitrose. it is lovely and clean, can get slightly busy though!

thanks Fanjo - that sounds ideal!

Just looking that park up, its actually Falcon ROAD, anyway its at the end of the road which Costa Coffee is on, and next to St Peter's school.

These other parks sound good christiana, haven't tried those!!

Answering for fanjo - yes, park is on the road that caffe nero is on.

Those two were going to be my first suggestions - also the park in the Links, near to what used to be a bowling green but now is, extremely bizarrely, the scottish Croquet hq....??? Play park is nice, though, some grassy bits inside the railings so you can sit there or on the benches.

lots of choice - i will try them all - and some of them I will be able to walk to (if I can get the double buggy out the door!) - so if you see a harassed mum with a double buggy in any one of these playparks on a Thursday come and say hello !

I like the slightly sad looking park on the Meadows next to the fantastic big one the other side of the tennis courts - its large, grassy, quiet and has a fab climbing frame/slide combo that my 18 month old loves!

Splylaw Park in Colinton was great for DD1 as a toddler. You can also toddle along the Water of Leith and explore.

Have fun!

meep · 14/05/2009 14:34

Anne I had forgotten about that one - it is much quieter than the all singing and dancing mayhem - and it is closer to starbucks!

Colinton also sounds good.

Thank you everyone - I think I now have enough for full on toddler entertainment!

Seven acres park up behind Alnwickhill is nice, but don't go there on a windy day or you will get blown away!!

I regularly go to the Morningside one with my ds because my sister lives right beside it. I wonder if I've met any of you there.....

HoracetheHedgehog · 15/05/2009 11:12

My DS (20 months) loves going to the Botanics so that he can chase the squirrels and pigeons

There's a cafe at Inverleith House in the middle where you can get coffee etc but it's fairly pricey - so I often take a picnic to have once DS is tired out lol

meep · 15/05/2009 11:18

is that the one between Alnwickhill Road and Liberton Gardens Mawbroon? I used to go to that one as a child - but haven't been there for ages.

Horace - we also love the Botanics - but dd1 knows there is a "slide slide slide" in Inverleith park so I get dragged there. I think I lived in the Botanics when dd1 was born - constantly pushing her pram around to make her go to sleep (so I could have a coffee!)

meep - it's at Stanedykehead. You can park quite nearby in (I think) Netherbank, and there's a wee path cuts through to the park from there.

Yes, the water of leith visitor centre is great. DH works near the corn exchange, so ds and I have been a couple of times if we have met dh for lunch.

No, havent been there, but it sounds great, might go tomorrow, if it's open!!
