Getting an earlier induction date

Hi
I am 40 weeks +6 with my first pregnancy. The truth is I'm starting to get quite upset with the situation as my midwife has booked me into RIE on 18th for an induction. This is technically not too long to wait but emotionally it is
As this is the last date possible from my due date. The reason is the hospital is fully booked. I have asked my midwife to see if there are any earlier dates available at St Johns but she's making lots of noises about me being booked onto RIE. Two girls in my NCT class had to have emergency sections as they were overdue and on having a scan were told that there wasn't enough fluid, I don't want this to be the case with me and to be checked too late! How can I persuade them for an earlier induction?

Could your midwife maybe give you a sweep to see if that gets things going?

I remember walking up Arthur's Seat on my due date with dd to try and get things moving. It did occur to me when I was half way up that I'd be a bit stuck if my waters suddenly went .

Go away for the weekend and you are certain to go into labour.

Try not to worry too much - Pruni is right the NCT scenario sounds unusual. I have known many (well more than 3 at least) go over 42 weeks with no ill effects. Perhaps you could ask for increased monitoring if you are very anxious?
