We are off to Florida/Disney for the first time ever in around 6 weeks and are travelling down to Glasgow to do our clothes shopping next weekend
My list:-

  1. Very comfy but stylish shoes for doing the parks.
  1. Comfy yet good looking trousers for the flight and while in Florida.
  1. Nice summery tops
  1. Summer dresses

Budget= not very much
Time to shop=not very long

Where should I start my search?
Oh and I am a big of hips saddle baggy mum of 36 and a half

H&M are often good for cheap n cheerful holiday stuff - there's one in Buchanan Galleries. Also try Zara down at the other end of Buchanan Street - reasonable prices and stylish. There's Office for shoes or Frasers shoe dept, both on Buchanan St. Also John lewis quite good for clothes.

Alternative if time is limited would be to go to Braehead or Silverburn or the Fort (personally I loathe the Fort, but maybe just me) which have most of the high street stores.

If you have hips and saddle bags (me too!!) I would avoid Zara - I find the sizes come up really small.

I would go for John Lewis in Buchanan Galleries as there's a range of concessions. Then I would head to M&S just along Sauchiehall Street.

There's a big Next in Buchanan Galleries too - it's not my favourite but I like it for holiday stuff because it's quite inexpensive.

Good point re Braehead or Silverburn - they have free parking. But zero charm or atmosphere imo

Quite so doggiesayswoof. The M&S in Silverburn is quite nice, but apart from that it's a great big cavern of ghastliness. Only marginally better than the wind tunnel that is the Fort.

God the Fort is so bleak. Why why why put anything outside on that hill?? Madness.

I find the M&S at Silverburn is not that well stocked (odd sizes etc) despite being massive.

tbh it's so long since I went clothes shopping that I have no idea why I'm actually posting on this thread.

Don't forget Primark - there are two, but the best one is on Argyle Street, near M&S. Great for cheap n cheerful holiday basics. Also, not cheap, but great investment - Rohan travel linen trousers- I am large of thigh also, and I love mine. They wash and dry quickly, don't need ironing and are great for flying - worth every penny imo (and available online if you don't have time to go to the shop).

Braehead is the sixth circle of hell imo, Silverburn is better, but the shops are smaller and therefore don't always carry full ranges, in particular M&S.

I wouldn't worry about stylish shoes for the parks - go for a comfy sandal with an ankle strap, so your feet won't bake, but you won't lose your shoes on the rides either. Clarks probably your best bet for those, and not too orthopaedic looking!

Have a fantastic time.

Oh, or how about doing that thing that they talk about in Grazia where you take an empty bag and do your shopping when you get there? I always liked the idea of that though I guess the exchange rate not so favourable these days.

thanks everyone. I've never been to either the fort or silverburn, but know braehead pretty well and used to know the glasgow city centre pretty well, although not as well now
