Anyone else bitten their nails down to the quick?! I got an email this morning to say the results will be online at 8am tomorrow morning... I don't think I've ever been so anxious!

Did you get in? Didn't realise how worried I was until we got good news today!

PoppetPie · 21/03/2009 11:53

I am worried already and my son doesn't start reception until September 2010! We are hoping for Pelham too PoppetPie, we only live on Russell Road but know in past years we wouldn't have got in, which is crazy as its only 2 streets away!!! Glad you got a place, I've heard it is a great school.

BecauseImWorthIt · 14/04/2009 13:35

Pelham is lovely - both my boys went there, and I have a very good friend who teaches there as well.

Hi ladies, I will be moving to Wimbledon in July 2010. Do you have any advice on primary schools? My son will be 6 early August 2010. Can you recommend good primary schools in Wimbledon? Would you be able to say which are known as the 'best' primary schools? I dont know Wimbledon area that well, where we will live will really depend on which schools I'd prefer him to go to. Thanks so much. xx

Everybody rates Dundonald and Wimbledon Chase but the hidden gem is Singlegate in Colliers Wood which got an 'Outstanding' in this years Ofsted report and is now top of the league in Primary schools in Merton.

warthog · 19/10/2009 19:57

warthog · 19/10/2009 20:25

ah just seen dates. phew. heart attack. out cold. don't worry about me...

Fruitbatlings · 19/10/2009 20:34

Singlegate is lovely. DS1 goes there

FrightNightFebes · 19/10/2009 20:42

West Wimbledon also got outstanding in last ofstead

WobblyPig · 19/10/2009 20:47

Curlybubba - welcome to the area - where abouts are you going to be living. There are lots of primaries but all with very small catchment areas . I am really struggling - living in the Battles area.

Curlybubba · 20/10/2009 19:03

Thats the thing! I dont know too much about different neighbourhoods in Wimbledon, I will be renting, and I will be looking for a place basically depending on whether there are good schools in that area. Got to keep researching and asking around! Thanks! xx

WobblyPig · 20/10/2009 19:09

I would therefore look at Dundonald Park area or Bishop Gilpin area as these are supposed to be the best state primaries. The problem remains the very small catchment areas and the high number of sibling places. You can live in the next street to some schools and not be guaranteed a place.

Curlybubba · 21/10/2009 06:14

I will be over at Christmas checking things out, so hopefully I will get more of a feel for the place then, and can visit the different areas around the schools that I have heard good things about. Also, my son will be entering Year 2 then, so it also depends on what schools will have a place for him next September. And with the C of E schools, alot of them require a form filled out by your priest? Thats what I have heard. We got to Church but NOT every week, so we dont really know the priest. But I guess to get my chances up for a good school, I should start attending more, and by the time we need the priest to sign something, he will sort of know my son and I by then. Is this how it works? Or are there some C of E schools that will allow you in anyway?

WobblyPig · 21/10/2009 22:11

I believe that most religious schools in Wimbledon have a sign up from the priest/vicar. The Holy Trinity School in the South Park area - ahve 15 out of 30 places put aside for the 'vicar- accredited' children and 15 as a free-for all. The council websites give you more info and lists the schools with the previous catchmenet areas.
Have you been to Wimbledon?

Curlybubba · 23/10/2009 14:58

Yes I've been to Wimbledon a number of times as my best friend lives there, and spent some time there when I was younger as well as my parents were trying to buy a place there. I definately do need to spend more time there though before we move next summer.

Cheeeky · 03/03/2011 14:23

Is there anyone who knows exact catchment area of Singlegate Primary Shool in Colliers Wood? I live in Alphea Close and the school is the closest. I do not want to send my kid to the second closest school due to my religious belief. Please help :-)

TheHouseofMirth · 03/03/2011 19:03

There's no such thing - all depends how many other applicants there are, where they live and how many of them have siblings already at the school.

What are your religious objections to the other school?

gazzalw · 06/03/2011 16:29

What's wrong with Garfield just out of interest? But I would have thought you wouldn't have a problem as you are very close even with the sibling rule - and it is likely that Singlegate will go 2 form entry possibly for next academic year but you would need to clarify that Merton Council.

wobblypig · 09/03/2011 22:32

Singlegate definitely having a bulge year this year and next - and then consultation about continuing.
