There doesn't seem to be any info about what it actually involves on the website.

Ds is 2.3 so I'll probably wait a few months and take him to the 2.5-4 session but it would be interesting to know the difference between the two.

Hi, how are you?

I haven't been to the ducklings swimming classes, but we do go to waterbabies.

I think they can start to learn properly from about age 3, before that they can't physically hold their head above the water, so that might be what the older age class are starting to do.

Classes at this age are mostly about having fun and promoting water confidence and it probably doesn't matter which class you go to as they will cater for a wide range of abilities and ages.

How much swimming have you done with your Ds? I would think that if he hasn't done very much then you might be better starting off in the wider age group class.

Hi trixy! We're great - how's things with you?

We take ds to the pool a fair bit and he's getting really confident in the water (with armbands obv). I guess I'm just interested in whether going to classes would teach me stuff to do with him in the water that I maybe don't do at the moment.

What do you do at waterbabies?

I'm good thanks. Bit knackered, but nowhere near as knackered as I was when i was pregnant with Ds. I thought the tiredness would be much worse with a toddler to cope with as well.

I like going to classes as there's no way i would be brave enough to do half the stuff they do on my own with DS.

Things we do that are good are teaching them to hold onto the side and move along holding on by themselves, jumping/diving in from the side, on my back holding on round my neck while I swim along and going underwater. They also teach them to kick and use their arms so preparing them for proper swimming, but mostly it's fun, splashing and singing.

Can you not pop in for a nosey when the class is on.

Ive never been to a ducklings class but Ive been in big pool when its on and seems to be songs in water and playing with toys. The lady sometimes in the pool with them and sometimes not. Was maybe younger ones I saw. You could phone and ask? Recpetion tend to be very helpful there.
