I'm moving to Ealing (near Ealing Common tube) fairly soon and would love to hear any top tips, personal recommendations etc of life with a toddler (22 months) and babies (twins on the way). Playgroups? Can you recommend a nursery? I know Chiswick well but not so up on what's what in Ealing. Thanks!

Some recommended places in previous threads. Haven't got a clue about playgroups though!

hi i live near ealing common -moved here last summer.... i have 6 month baby girl. some thoughts...

carluccios is the best restaurant for taking babies. i like the grange pub too but they can be funny about breastfeeding there.

there are a no of nursries nearby - st matthews montessori is supposed to be good and i checked out buttercups on florence road and they seemed good. dont need it yet so will research closer to the time.

recommend joinng the local nct or ealing 135 group as they have lists of all the playgroups - there are tons ...i havent joined any yet as my baby sleeps late in the evening and seems to wake too late for them!!
there is a gymborree at st andrews church mount park road - will be starting that soon.

ealing library has been refurbished too.

ciao a tutte sono una mamma di un bimbo di quasi due anni, vivo a northolt, non lontano da ealing..mi farebbe molto piacere conoscere qualche mamma italiana..

Yes, Gymboree good but you have to prepay each month. It does get you into a routine of going though. Tippitoes at the Log Cabin is good but perhaps a little far - it's in Northfields. I live in Ealing Common. I have a 17 month old daughter and a 1 month old son. My girl goes to Buttercups nursery in Florence Road - she really enjoys it.

Have a friend with baby at Buttercups and seems good so far (only been there a few weeks). Ealing Council has an early years/childrens service which can give you a listing of all the nurseries in the area (also childminders).

Gymboree is great (but expensive) and has lots of choice of classes - you pay for one or two or three per week as you wish but then can go to whichever suits you, so you can go to different ones each week. (SSud - do I know you? ) Tippitoes is also good. Definitely join Ealing 135 - if nothing else, their newsletter lists all the playgroups etc. going on in Ealing so essential for that. They have area reps who organise things at your local area level so it might be great way to meet parents and kids who live close to you.

Parks in Ealing are great - Walpole and Lammas have good play areas, and Lammas has the play centre as well. Bunny Park in Hanwell (bus ride or drive) has animals, maze, good play equipment.

Carluccios are lovely with kids - don't seem to mind the mess my DS makes (we did baby-led weaning so he is REALLY messy!).

Just realised I didn't add anything new and just repeated everyone else

How about:

  • FARA charity shop on Ealing Green is good for kids' clothes and toys
  • M&S has baby change/feeding room on 1st floor which I found invaluable when DS was little (although sometimes they do use it for storing old clothes racks and such like )

I also live in Ealing and i am a mother of 2 and also a childminder.

I recommend checking out the YMCA on St Marys Road as they have some brilliant classes for toddlers like Tumble and Stretch and they are quite reasonable.

Also the 1 o'clock in playcentre in Lammas Park, which runs all day is lovely when it's warm out as is the play centre in Pitshanger Park, althou i believe this only opens in the mornings.

The 135 Club is very useful as well as it's also a great way to make friends.

I hope this helps. x
