We havent been away on our own for about 18months so it is long overdue and the fact that it is our anniversary seems like a good time to go. Where can we go bearing in mind what the scottish weather can be?

Thats ok. We spent a lovely night at The Royal Hotel in Comrie ( about 45 minutes from Perth) We stayed in Room 1 and it had a lovely four poster bed, a real fire with a sofa and a big bathroom. It was a gorgeous room and there are nice walks in the area. Other than that The lodge on the Loch in Loch Lomond was recommended by another mumsnetter and we are thinking of going there in a couple of weekends for a night, the rooms look fab and have saunas and balconies.

It was me that reccommended the Lodge on Loch Lomond. We are going there again soon (next week) for our 2nd anniversary. Not sure if you have been away already lol

We went to the Lodge on Loch Lomond the other weekend on your recommendation then agal.

It was absolutely fab and the view was just amazing. We were meant to be staying in the newer building but luckily DH rung up and managed to get a cancellation in the main building looking directly on the loch. In fact I think due to location and view it is just slightly better than The Royal, which is also excellent.

Have you been away yet singyswife ?

Glad you liked it Rookie!! How was the food at the Royal?

Looks lovely but think DH would prefer to go back to the Lodge lol

We didn't eat dinner at the Royal, went to the Deils Cauldron round the corner which is excellent. We ended up having a fantastic night at the bar afterwards though, the Comrie walking club were having their night out and we ended up talking to the man who played Badger in Monarch of the Glen amongst other people.Breakfast was pretty good though so imagine that dinner would be as well.
