Soft play centres in Glasgow / Stirling?

ilikeyoursleeves · 26/01/2009 20:50

I'm looking to take DS (15 months) to a soft play place but I don't know any near me, I live halfway between Stirling and Glasgow but I'm in Glasgow a bit more.

Any recommendations? Thanks

i know it's not quite what you asked, but almond valley in livingstone is one of my favourite places to take ds. it's well worth paying the £40 for an annual membership.

it has soft play indoors and another play area in an out building, lots of trampolines and a big sandpit done up like an archaelogical dig inside a big tent.

there are farm animals, a train ride and a tractor ride too. it's just full of great things for kids to do! they don't pay me to say this, honest!

ilikeyoursleeves · 26/01/2009 21:31

thanks but livi is totally miles away from me!

I only really know southside ones.

there's the caper barn in east kilbride, junglee fun in uddingston, whale of a time in shawlands.

RaggedRobin · 26/01/2009 22:23

it's miles away from me too - i live in paisley!! but i love it.

ok - there is a nice little soft play in queen's park, just opposite the victoria infirmary. good for kids around your ds's age. it's in a big greenhouse and has a little section of animals to look at too.

BaDaBing · 26/01/2009 22:26

Thats the glasshouse in Queens Park. Sporty Kids in Thornliebank is good, Whale of a Time in Shawlands also good. Not that impressed with Ruff and Tumble (think its called that) is Pollokshaws. Have heard good things about Caper Barn in East Kilbride though.

sweetkitty · 26/01/2009 22:33

Can you be a bit more specific about where you are ilikeyoursleeves, I'm in North Lanarkshire.

Caper Barn is good, theres also one in Uddingston, Hamilton and Wishaw. M&Ds in Strathclyde Park is also quite good and the park is also nice with a good swingpark (well a couple)

shonaspurtle · 02/02/2009 00:08

I'm West End, and the only one I know of out near me is Monkey Madness at Clydebank. Much loved by ds though.

The Garscube Community Playrooms have a soft play room with a ball pit, lots of soft blocks and a couple of Little Tykes type slides. It's a great place for little ones on a rainy day with loads more than soft play. Well worth the £10 annual membership and £1 per visit (might be a bit more now - we've not been in a while).

TheInvisibleManDidIt · 02/02/2009 01:56

Adventure planet in Cumbernauld is good.

KristinaM · 02/02/2009 07:55

sporty kids in Thornliebank is smallish but food & staff are lovely. caper house play barn in East Kilbride is much bigger but food is not great and toilets and changing area usually need cleaning. Staff very variabable some lovely, some very rude

TeenyTinyToria · 02/02/2009 08:55

There's this one in Stirling.

fledtoscotland · 18/02/2009 23:31

caper house in east kilbride is excellent IMO. its clean and well set out so you can see your LOs from the comfort of a seat. if you get there before lunchtime and avoid weekends its not that busy either.

Blottedcopybook · 06/03/2009 17:29

I'd second the votes for Adventure Planet in Cumbernauld but it's really pricey - cost me £15 to take my three kids, I nearly passed out! I live less than a mile from the Caper Barn and it works in a fix, but the food is terrible and you're not allowed to bring in your own.

SimpleAsABC · 25/03/2009 11:43

What about Buckaroo Jacks in East Kilbride? I liked it, but was never very busy!

Might be a bit old.. can't remember entirely what there was for tinies.

pebbles79 · 26/03/2009 23:11

I'm sure there's one in Bridgeton too. I'm in Clydebank so tend to stick with Monkey Madness and Sox and Slides in Milton.

upagumtree · 27/03/2009 00:26

There's a relatively new one called Cheeky Monkeys in the clyde valley in south lanarkshire. I haven't been yet but it so far it seems to have a good reputation. Dh took Ds2 there recently and the lo loved it. He wants his birthday party there now so i'll need to go check it out. Think though it would be a little out of your way ILYS. There's also one in Hamilton but for the life of me I can't remember the name. I'm sure someone will be along soon who could give you info on that one too.

RipMacWinkle · 27/03/2009 06:21

upagumtree - are you thinking of Bilkos (sp?) in Hamilton? Have only been once but it seemed popular.

I prefer Caper House for my 2 year old but I think Bilkos would be better for a slighter older child.

upagumtree · 27/03/2009 10:48

Ah yes, that's the one I was thinking of! Where abouts in EK is Caper house?

RipMacWinkle · 27/03/2009 18:59

Caper House is in Stewartfield, right next to the Morrisons, along from the Kingsgage Retail Park.

Am waiting to try out the soft play in the new PlayGolf complex next to the Kingsgate when it eventually opens. Tragic aren't I?

Blottedcopybook · 27/03/2009 19:15

I posted this recently and it happened at the Caper House - if you're going to go there, please go during school hours

Rip - I didn't know there was going to be a soft play there! Hubby was telling me about all the facilities the other day and missed that one!

RipMacWinkle · 27/03/2009 20:06

Blotted I just read your thread - didn't realise that was at Caper House. Have to say I'm not overly surprised though! Soft play is a law unto itself isn't it? Hope your DD is ok now.

According to the blurb there is a soft play in the Kids zone but I've no idea what age it is targeting

Blottedcopybook · 27/03/2009 21:24

It's brutal! She's fine now thanks, we haven't been back since that happened but she's still happy to throw herself around at mini movers so she's clearly not got any lasting concerns!

I have to say I'm seriously excited about the pool at playgolf, especially with the Dolan shut for an extra six months or so.

upagumtree · 29/03/2009 13:37

blotted I read your post shortly after you posted it. I too had no idea that's where you were talking about. So glad your dd is better now and hasn't been put off following her horrific ordeal!

elizabethm1 · 27/08/2010 10:12

there are loads of soft plays in glasgow there is jurassic jungle at saracen street port dundas g22 which is pretty good and reasonable priced geronimos in duke street is also a hit with the kids jungle in the city in partick which is good if kids are small but would imagine over 5s to get a bit bored, cheeky charlies in summerston which is okHmmwhale of a time in shawlands which kids enjoyed then theres the new one in braehead xscape which is a bit pricey but there a lot to do in it theres also the garscube playrooms which are great for under 5s £15 annual membership and£1 each visit for toy fund but highly reccommended they are in garscube road.theres one charlies big adventure in bishopbriggs and further afield you have planet adventure in cumbernauld cant think of top of my head of any others at presnt however think ther may be one named kidzone just outside glasgow fort @m8?

giggly · 28/08/2010 22:11

Jungle in the City in Partick is good for under 6. It is quite small but you can clearly see the children and there is a decent sized ball pit for toddlers. As it is smaller you dont get that high pitched screaming that comes with almost all other places. Also has the big soft shapes things outside the main frame.

I think the one at Braehead is way over priced and far to big with to many people for my dd age 5.
You can get the bus/subway to Jungle as its only a few minutes walk.

geordieminx · 29/08/2010 18:56

Rainforest Adventure in Motherwell.
