Whats it all about? I'm pretty much in the dark, my childminder says the schools can't be amalgamated as the children will lose out, but another parent I asked says that its a bunch of parents with nothing better to do with their time & the children won't actually be affected.

Its my preferred school for ds next year, some help or explanation would be appreciated please as I dont know the pros & cons.

From what I can gather, if seperate schools have less than a certain number of pupils then the Government wants them to amalgamate where possible. I think the primary reason for this is money/economies of scale. For example, at the higher end of the scale, you will have 2 Heads but if the schools amalgamate then only 1 Head, thus saving a Head Teachers salary. At the other end of the scale, the school will also save money as, combined, they will have greater buying power for supplies and services.
