As far as I can see it's stowed out from dawn till dusk. I haven't braved it yet but thousands have by the looks of things!

Is it worth the queuing?

Hi there, I was there the weekend it opened but forgot to bring my free cake voucher. It was fine, they have fancy knitted tea cosies for the tea pots which is a nice touch. I only had a bottle of water so can't vouch for much else. It didn't look that different from how it was before.

No, haven't been, but I did smile when I saw a sign on opening day saying that they weren't open after all and we would have to wait "a wee bitty longer".

I'll drop in for a scone when the hordes have died down.

Meanwhile, anybody fancy joining me in opening a tearoom with a quirky name, sticking a teapot over the door and then coining it in hand over fist??

Wacky Morag's Flapjack Palace anybody??

Yes it is all a bit emperors new clothes isn't it. I have decided that the scones at our local garden centre are second to none so shall be frequenting there more often.

Iv'e been and it was really lovely. Everything is baked on the premises and even though it was heaving when I went the staff were really friendly and helped me get a table for me and my little boy pretty quickly. Baby room is fab and well stocked. Have to say it is actually very different to previous cafe which was there - miles better!!! Can't imagine how anyone can think there wasn't much difference but then maybe my previous bad experiences at the old place makes me biased!! Worth a try and considering the lack of parent friendly places in Morningside in my opinion, I think it will be a hit with mums.

hi,
I went to Loopy Lorna's and loved it! The staff were really friendly and the cake was delicious. Am taking my in-laws for afternoon tea as it looked great. Great that they do free squash for kids and the colouring tea pots are also a nice touch.

Glad that both golly72 and LovelyMummy37 both enjoyed it so much, both do seem to have quite extensive knowledge of the place, and neither seem to have posted before but maybe I'm just a tad . I do apologise if I have got that wrong and feel free to hit me with (wheat free) bread sticks if you are coming along to the christmas meet up.

I would definitely dispute the fact that there are not many parent friendly options in Morningside. This morning DS enjoyed his free Babycino at Cafe Nero and we often have family outings to Lucas which offers fab family food at very reasonable prices.

I noticed the other day that there's another new one opening soon. A bit further up the road on the other side from Loopy Lornas.

I can't for the life of me remember what it's called though.

I used to live round there and was astounded at the number of off licences there. Perhaps the tea shops are to help with the hangovers.

rookiemater · 08/12/2008 17:35

Everyone seems to be in on Loopy Lornas, even my taxi driver commented that they did a nice scone, he did say it was pricey mind.

mawbroon · 09/12/2008 13:55

I passed it on the bus today and noticed a thinggy on the window saying "barred for life" and then a few names.

I am assuming that this is Lorna being Loopy

But maybe I have missed something seeing I didn't catch the whole thing as we sped by.

Just wanted to report that we all went there for lunch today.

DS did enjoy his juice although he decided that he didn't like the cheese on his tortilla wrap, as its clearly so different from the other cheese that he is happy to eat on a daily basis .

Our soup was ok, nothing special, and can't say we will be going back as a family as too many darned bits and pieces on the table and for a location that is allegedly extra child friendly, I don't think that a box of crayons and a sheet of paper really cuts it.

Did however appreciate the free nappies as DH had forgotten to take supplies.
