Raising teenagers in Hammersmith / Fulham

Hi there! we have a 1-year old and a 6-year old and are thinking about moving out of the sticks and back into the Hammersmith/Ravenscourt Park are (pre-baby, I used to live in Earl's Court). The one thing I am unsure about, though, is whether or not we're letting ourselves in for a total nightmare about six years from now. Is it possible to bring up reasonable human beings past the age of 11 inside the M25? If so, how? All advice welcome!

Hello

You dont mention whether you have girls or boys - of course its possible to raise gorgeous kids - but the difficulty you will have is schools. If you have money it is easier - there are a few more options - but if you are relying on the state route for education think long and hard about moving to h and f. If you have a religious background there are one or two good schools - the c of e school called twyford in acton is particularly good but you need a meticulous five year record of church going to get in. The kids have a lot of temptations in london but also a lot of opportunities.

If you want to know more i can supply more information.

Do you intend to educate privately or state. And are you religious?

If you want to send your kids to private school, or are Catholic, you will have no problem with secondary schools around Ravenscourt Park. If you want a non-religious state secondary there is nothing good near here at all. You will end up sending your kids to a relly dodgy comp with lots of kids whose parents let them roam the streets and do all sorts.

I love this area. I know lots of lovely kids and teenagers and I never want to leave. I am however very scared about what to do when the DCs need a secondary school (there are great state primaries around the park).
