Hello, would be really grateful for any advice on what Surbiton is like. Will be moving there with husband and 6 year old son who will have to start a new school which I’m worried about. We’ve seen a couple of places on Ewell Road. I don’t know the area too much but have heard nice things about Surbiton. Would appreciate any advice. Thank you

What would you like to know? What are you worried about? Primary schools are very good but the secondaries are poor (apart from Tiffin), although apparently improving.

thanks for your reply. Oh no! Yes I wanted to know about both primary and secondary schools I had heard they were good? Also the area, sense of community. Would be nice to feel a part of one. But worried to hear about the secondary schools though

Surbiton is nice, a friend lives there. Her dc are at the Catholic schools which I believe are very good.

Thinking about it I haven't heard of poor secondary schools & would think they are better than a lot of other boroughs.

you can see school performance here.

Surbiton is nice. Lovely high street with all you need, good restaurants, farmer's market, very safe, excellent quick journey into London. Lovely riverside walks, Kingston is walking distance for theatre, cinema, exceptional music scene, loads of restaurants, Richmond Park etc.

Don't know about schools, though.

If you travel to the Catholic schools (I think Raynes Park/New Malden?) or if you are in catchment for Hinchley Wood school which is very good you’re fine. Otherwise you have a decidedly average senior, in particular for boys.

Other than that, it’s a lovely area and we’re very happy here.
