Moving to Surbiton/ Berrylands or Dittons

Hello,

I was wondering if I could gain a little bit of advice. We currently live in QueensPark ( North west London) and are looking to move with our 6 month old to Surbiton/berrylands or Ditton or even stretch to Molesay. Are there areas you would avoid or recommend. Moving from the northwest to south west is daunting, but we need a larger place and the schools around here look great.

Any advice will be welcomed :)
Thanks in advance
Rik

Lovely area!

The Moleseys are a little far out, but otherwise lovely and quite reasonable - close to Hampton Court and Bushey Park!

The Dittons are closer in, and gorgeous - very villagey feel, river on your doorstep, cricket on the green.

Surbiton is on the fast train to London, but has prices to match.

The only bits to avoid are on the riverwards side of Villiers road where the proximity to the sewage plant can make it quite whiffy, especially in the summer with the wind in the wrong direction.

Awesome, thank you very much for coming back to me. It’s really helpful.

I did a drive through Long Ditton and I fell in love with the area. It had such a nice feel to it- the sunny weather also helps. My wife’s quite worried about the smell in Berrylands, and I think that willl ultimately impact our choice of moving there. Are there any places in long ditton we should avoid, or is the area as a whole good?

Thanks again for taking the time to post 😃

Is there any reason why you wouldn’t move further out in the direction you already are? Slightly further west or north?

Berrylands really doesn't smell anymore. I've lived here over 11 years and very rarely get a whiff of the treatment works.

Love this area, I moved here with 3 young children, and the ease of buses, trains and lovely green areas has made it a fab area to bring up the kids.

You get more for your money in Berrylands than Surbiton, big gardens and more house.

Perfect. Thank you very much for confirming that. I agree, Surbiton is out of our budget for what we want. Berrylands is back on again!! 😃

I’ve got a clinic down in Wimbledon, hence the move towards SW area for the commute, larger space and definitely the schools.

if we head west, we are moving towards Hounslow, slough area

Hi all,

just to throw in another area- what are people’s thoughts on Cheam and Cheam Village? Looking at houses, it feels you get more bang for your buck, but is there a reason behind that?
