Hi everyone,
We’re thinking of buying a house on Vanda Crescent, close to St Albans City station, and would really appreciate some local insight. We have an 8-month-old baby and are hoping to find somewhere to stay long-term (around 8 years).
We’ve lived around London for years, most recently in Islington, which we loved for its walkability, green spaces, and general feel. We’re now looking for somewhere more leafy and relaxed, but still within 15 mins or so of the station as we commute a few times a week. The house we’re looking at has good potential (driveway, decent layout), and we’re planning to renovate it into a family home.
What we’re after:
- A safe, well-kept, family-friendly area
- Somewhere nice to walk around with a buggy
- Good local GP, nursery options, and schools
- Access to playgrounds, cafes, and green space
The only hesitation is the immediate area, the house is in St Peter’s ward, but right next to Camp Road, and some of the nearby streets felt a little less charming than other parts of St Albans like Clarence Park, Bernards Heath or Fleetville. We’d love to know what it’s really like day-to-day.
Any thoughts on the neighbourhood, Cunningham Hill Primary, or anything else we should consider would be so helpful. Thanks in advance! 😊
