Street noise from planes?

We have been looking at a couple of houses recently on Haliburton Road and St Margarets in general. It looks like a great area and people seem very friendly. I just wondered about the planes. They seemed very low. Is the noise bad, do you get use to it, how is it in the summer with the doors open? Would love some local insight :-)

I'd love to know how many planes go by on your street?!

Kidding aside, it is good to know before you move!

I don't live there, but I do know you get completely used to it over time, to the point you cannot even hear it. To the point where you go somewhere else and go "far too quiet here, far too quiet, I can hardly sleep because it is far too quiet, where are my familiar noises, I can't possibly sleep because there are none of my usual comforting noises, how will I know what time it is". Early flight path and main road being two of my main ones.

We didn’t buy on ailsa because of the noise. That said… we live not too far away now and are on the flight path. It does get noisy when they are directly over us, but it’s not that frequent, more in summer. It’s not too bad, you get used to it, but we do have to stop conversations outside when Quantas go past- they are so low! I think I’d consider buying near there these days, given my experiences in twickers. I think the noise is reflected in house prices that side of the 316.

There's more than one flight path so it's not all day every day.

When they do come over this way, there's a change of path at 3pm so again it's not relentless.

However it is low and noisy when they fly directly overhead and if you're outside you do have to stop talking for a bit until they pass.

It's a very popular and friendly area with lots of long term residents and house prices are quite high so not a deal-breaker for many.

I am from near there and you do get used to it. Did the expansion plan for Heathrow ever go anywhere?

So you don’t mean St Margrets by Ware? coz Ware is known as Wareport we used to see/hear the planes banking over our flat there’s definitely plane noise but lovely place
