Moving to Bath

I moved from London to Bristol for a short-term project, met my now husband and ended up settling there.
We have since had two kids and sold our old house to move to a larger one that could accommodate us going forward. Our onward sale fell through at the last minute but we were getting a great price so we thought we'd go into rental for a short let.
Fast forward over a year later and the local market is still so hot that we are struggling to get back in! That has led to various conversations about moving away.
I am not terribly keen but I also can't swallow paying thousands of pounds in rent / someone else's mortgage while our equity is swallowed up by inflation and rising prices.
We've been looking around and don't think it's worth moving to another part of Bristol where you aren't really getting much for your money - if we move away our money stretches further.
This is a long diatribe to ask about thoughts on moving to Bath. Right now we are looking at Coombe Down - looks like it is near to nature (for my husband who loves cycling) there are some good schools and I can get into Bath Centre fairly quickly on a bike. I should add that I still 'work' in London and go once a week so a train station is on the list of must-haves.
Any thoughts / experiences etc... Schools are a priority as both my sons need SEN support. Beyond that, I personally need accessible shopping (I don't drive) for at least basics and I want people. I don't especially like nature - parks are enough for me. Being near places to get out for a coffee on a WFH day is far more important.
I'd love to get some insights.
TIA.

Combe Down is a long way from the railway station- and uphill all the way home! I haven't lived there but used to drive through on a daily basis for work.

I live in Keynsham and it has a station as well as buses to Bristol and Bath bus stations, Southmead Hospital , Longwell Green and Bristol Airport. It also has several primary and secondary schools.

Ah, I didn't realise it was up a hill. Google said that the train station was 40 minutes walk from a house we are viewing - that seems acceptable for me. But with a massive hill in the way, I think that probably puts it out f the running.
At this stage, I think we may well be back to simply trying to buy into our local market - we need to be on the mainline to London, which does limit us, but we can't add extra stress to already regular, long journeys.
