Retaking Year 12 -- Do any of the Sixth Forms do Retakes?

Hello all,

I am in a bit of a panic. My daughter will be asked to leave their sixth form at the end of year 12 due to a lack of progress. In other words, they (are not meeting the grades. There are no AS.

Assuming I can get things turned around with them (they are non-binary as well), are there any sixth forms that would accept a retaking of year 12?

Thanks

Yes. I’ve known them let a pupil swap A levels and retake year 12 as well. Also retake year 13.

School can receive funding for three years after year 11. This allows young people to change their mind, move provision etc.

However, I would want yo understand why they are not meeting the grades. Do they need to consider a more vocational qualification.

It is still early in year 12, could tutoring help her grasp the fundamentals? FE colleges are more flexible , worth going to open events and asking about the courses they can offer.

Thank you everyone for the suggestions.

Yes this happens very frequently.

However worth addressing whether there are any underlying issues.

Do you mind saying which 6th form? There are also a lot of private options available to you as well.

DS was at Comberton Sixth Form. He did very badly at the end of Y12, was allowed to change subjects and retake the year.

They were brilliant about it, incredibly supportive
