Have noticed they're quite thin on the ground in Southampton so anywhere nearby too.

The one behind Portswood Primary is ok, accessible via Kitchener or Brickfield Rd or Upper Shaftesbury Ave.

Hi,

Can't help with Southampton but Winchester has two lovely ones. One in Abby Gardens by the Guildhall and one by the Rivewr Park Leisure centre. A bit of a journey for you but well worth it, especially in the summer as both have rivers so really cooling.

Good luck with the hunt!

New one being constructed in Mayflower park at the mo - will be more for the little ones - a wooden ship and slide/frame. I've been told that the existing play area will be redeveloped for Boat Show - don't know if this is true!

Discovered an imaginative one on Weston Shore (between Netley Abbey and Woolston) last weekend. You can park further up nr the public loos and walk along the pebbly beach to the playground. Lots of cranes and big ships to see too. In the other direction is a nice green field to run about on.

There is a v nice one in Royal victoria Country park in Netley Abbey, on the western outskirts of southampton.

It's all set in woodland and very well-maintained. And a nice cafe there too!

The one in mayflower park now open and quite good, except being next to the ice cream shop is challenge.

Out of Southampton, but if your able to drive to Romsey Memorial Park (behind the abbey) Limited parking 1 - 2 hrly. Otherwise if you don't mind walking there is a medium stay car park opp Aldi or a long stay next to waitrose. Lovely enclosed play park suitable for toddlers upwards. With shaded areas. In the summer mths there is a coffee kiosk. Clean public loos and changing facilities.

There's a newly refurbished one on the North side of the infant school at Riverside Park, Bitterne Park. Now locally known as The Dragon Park due to dragon-shaped equipment. 5mins walk further North, just next to the Woodmill and the mini-golf is a big wooden playground, bit shadier but very boggy in winter.
Sadly the playground to the South of the school is still dying a death.

I'd recommend the Royal Victoria Country Park at Netley too,if you can park outside the park by the shore (limited places) it's free too, take bread for the ducks in the lovely pond by the gates and walk through the park, there's 2 play parks one for younger children and one for older kids, there's even a railway going in the holidays for a treat, there are some lovely walks in the grounds and you can go down to the shore too also a cafe for teas/icecreams etc,
