Nottingham High School

we are possibly relocating to Nottingham and have a child who is fairly dyslexic and has anxiety issues. At its worse he has school refusal but he is relatively bright and once settled is a very easy pupil . The 2 schools on our radar are Nottingham high and Trent college. We also have another child who has no SEN and ideally we would like to try and get them both in to the high school. However the website doesn’t say much about SEN and I wondered if anyone has any experience of SEN at Nottingham high ?

I would repost your question on the main Education board, there is the odd conversation there about Nottingham High School (NHS) so more posters will be able to give useful input.

If your son has SEN I would go and look at Holygirt School. They take a lot of bright children with SEN. NHS is not the place for a child with SEN. If your second child is a girl, send her to Nottingham Girls High School (NGHS) over NHS. Trent is less academic than both NHS & NGHS, don’t know about their SEN provision. Sport is very big at Trent.

Holygirt, NHS and NGHS are all in close proximity. I know lots of people that have chosen to have their girls at NGHS and their brothers at NHS (even thought NHS is co-ed).

Thank you, that’s very helpful.
