Anaesthetist... the csection is the same, partner can't come in the room for the anaesthetic. You'll get an ant-acid drink just before you go to sleep to minimise stomach acidity. As you go to sleep our assistant puts a tiny bit of pressure on the front of your neck, again to minimise acid, most people have absolutely no memory of it but we warn you as don't want you to think we are strangling you as we aren't!
Bed will be slightly titled to get bump off your tummy vessels same as ur awake sections
Then the rest is same as any other ga -
Few minutes of oxygen to fill your lungs up before the anaesthetic starts, the anaesthetic is injected in the drip in your hand, can be cold and a bit achey as it goes up your arm that's normal. Keep you asleep for the operation, wake you at the end. We give you lots of pain killers and antisickness while your asleep, but any problems with those let the nurses know in recovery and they'll fix it.
Can get a sore throat for a few days from the breathing tube, small risk of damaging your teeth by putting it in or taking it out but it's rare
Once you're awake enough you'll be reunited with baby.
GA sections are more painful than regional as we can't put opiates in your back, just take your pain killers regularly and don't be afraid to ask for more if needed
