Moving from London to Windsor/Eton?

Would love some advice on doing the London to Windsor/ Eton move. Having been a Londoner majority of my life, after having 2 babies in a row we are considering a move to Windsor (for affordability). I’ve worked and socialised in central London my whole adult life and always took advantage of all it has to offer. We also live in a lively, trendy, bustling area of London with everything on our doorstep. My concern is that a few months in, I will feel claustrophobic, bored and stuck. Has anyone made the same leap? Would love any advice you might have! Thanks 🙏🏻

Windsor is fine. Slough a few miles away isn’t. Slough has a good train service into London.

I live in central windsor-happy for you to PM me with any questions- or to help in any way I can. Lived in London previously but had another move in between.

Absolutely love living here but not generally considered a move for affordability

We moved from suburban London to Eton about eighteen months ago, in order to live in our dream home (so didn't research the area at all, plus it was lockdown when we put the offer in without viewing, yeah I realise how risky it was 😅)

Love love love the Windsor bubble - as a small town it really punches above its weight in terms of cafe culture, 'proper' culture, places to eat, theatre, events etc. Easy access to beautiful countryside too, we walk along the river or through the grounds of Eton College most days.

Downside of this is stepping outside the bubble when you need to do some proper shopping - Bracknell (Fenwicks plus M&S) is the nearest big shopping centre but I'm not a fan. And public transport outside the M25? I'll never moan about London Transport again 😅

To make the most of Windsor living, top tip would be to live as centrally as possible: to make the most of escaping the bubble you need a car (and a house with a car parking space, you'll find London and Windsor very similar in terms of parking issues!).

Hey! Did you end up moving? We are also considering the move and would be really interested to see how it went for you :)

I posted above-I'd be interested to know as well...
