Dear Mumsnetters,

Hope all well .

My DS has scored reasonably well and hopefully will be able to qualify for QE Barnet school. We are looking at areas in and around Barnet and came across Borehamwood as a reasonable option .We are happy to commute ( generally along M1 ) or central London ,but wanted to know which parts of Borehamwood are good ,don't have consideration for primary as have only one child.Or could you recommend any other areas which will be more suitable

Borehamwood is easy to commute into London and has easy access to the M1 and M25.

As with all towns it has its good and bad areas - the south side is more affluent and has a better standard of housing. You want to be in or around the Furzehill Road area, which is also close to the station. Avoid Leeming Road and areas around.

Alternatively Elstree is just the other side of the station and tends to be better thought of (and more expensive) Some lovely roads there though.

It's a small town which is being developed very quickly, we have lost a lot of our green space in recent years, however there is still an abundance of parks and open spaces should you need them. Difficult to get doctors appt in recent years and the good schools are over subscribed.

There is a big Jewish community here which is reflected in the high street, where there are some lovely bakeries and restaurants. Lots of shops have shut recently and local businesses seem to struggle to hit the target market, new shops/restaurants open and close all the time.

We have been happy here for 20 years but will look to move somewhere a little less busy for retirement.

Thanks Elzbells .I was definitely looking for this specific information

Much appreciated .Since school (hopefully ) will be sorted by March ( National offer day) .I was definitely looking for areas specific information as there was mixed reviews about few areas of Borehamwood and safe living like everyone was our first priority .
