hi, i live in w2. Me & my 19 month old love the peter pan playground in hyde park and the basement of the science museum - free, fun & educational is brilliant. jo

zilly · 20/08/2007 19:27

Hi Jo, thanks for the tips I had not thought of the science museum. We are in W10 so have discovered the delights of Holland Park sandpit recently and she loves to kick the ball around at Ken Gdns. Have also found a couple of 'stay and play' places but they are all finished now for a couple of weeks. Will give the Museum and Peter Pan playground a go thx Liz

Hello, welcome to the borough... I have a daughter born in May 2006. She has quite a full programme as I work Mon - Wed - Whippersnappers in Holland Park Youth Hostel on Monday mornings (excellent themed music and play class), Tuesdays she goes to Gymboree in Whiteleys - expensive but they love it - not especially social though for mums, Wednesdays Toddler Times art class in Holland Park again, there's also Monkey Music at various times and locations. We are spoilt, there's so much to do round here. Also have you registered for nurseries as they can fill up quite quickly!

newbbiemum · 04/10/2007 09:12

hi sazza. my son does a few classes as well. he does gymboree at whiteley(!) on monday for play and wednesday for music. swimming at the porchester on tuesdays and fridays. nursery-wise ms delaneys too has offered a place..thank god for that!! have applied to a few more...so lets see..but ure right, nursery admissions are difficult late in the game!!!

i was looking for local mums for playdates at the parks or something... ) (and some moral support for me!!)

i havent tried monkey music though...might give it a go...

tc...xx

St Peter's Ken Park Road - absolutely enormous playgroup Tue-Fri 9.30 to 11.45, loads of toys, kids of all ages!

jane1234 · 02/01/2008 14:42

Hi,
I take my 20 month old and 3 month old to St Peter's playgroup too. It's great. I'd love to meet up with other mums in the area (i'm in Notting Hill) for playdates and trips to the park. I just joined mumsnet so haven't really worked out how to contact people through it yet...
Let me know if anyone is free
Jane

zilly · 07/01/2008 20:26

Hi Jane
How is it with the two?
I still havent made it to St Peter's despite all the recommendations, so I guess I now have a new year's resolution!
What days do you normally go and maybe we can introduce our 20 month old's?

Hi Liz,

St Peter's is great when the weather's bad as the kids can charge around inside and run off lots of energy. I usually go on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Would be good to introduce our toddlers.

zilly · 08/01/2008 20:01

Hi Jane
Ill head up there this Thursday and give it a go. I noticed your other emails about walks, I usually end up in either Kensington Gardens or Holland Park and am always game for a Starbucks.

Hi Liz,

I will be at playgroup tomorrow. My daughter will be wearing a stripey top ( so I can see her as she charges around!) and I'll be following her around carrying my 3 month old son. I'm fairly tall with dark hair. Hope you spot me so we can say hi in person.

zilly · 10/01/2008 10:06

Hi Jane
You are probably rushing around as I write this. Really sorry that we have not made it this morning and will explain when I see you.
Can we reschedule for Tuesday?
Hope you had fun

Hi Jane
See you tomorrow, is it stripes to look out for again?!

Yep! My youngest is going through a tricky patch so I'll be the one jiggling around trying to get a screaming baby off to sleep.

Hi,
Whilst I'm not new to the area I've just gone on my second maternity leave & am keen to meet up with other stay at home mums. I have two boys who are aged 21 months & 10 wks. I had a great NCT group first time 'round but unfort most of them have now moved away.
Do you have to book a spot at the St Peters playgroup or can you just turn up on the day? I'm looking for activities I can manage with the two kids on the days my eldest isn't at nursery, which is Mondays & Thursdays. I'm also interested in activities to do on the days when it's just the baby & me. My health visitor gave me details of a parents & baby group held at a clinic on Russell Rd in W14, has anyone been? It's held on Wednesday mornings.
All suggestions most welcome!
Many thanks, Sally

zilly · 18/01/2008 14:28

Hi Sally
St Peter's you just turn up and it is on Tuesdays to Friday inclusive 9.45 to 11.45. I have only been once but intend to go again next week. My 20 month old daughter loved it and there are plenty of seats etc for you to sit with the little one. I dont know the clinic you mention but there is Little Scrubs at little Wormwood Scrubs and Stay and Play on St Marks Rd that are both W10 one every weekday morning and one every weekday afternoon. Both are much smaller than St Peters and without the tea/coffee.
A good wesite for listings is www.childcarelink.gov there seem to be loads of places in the area.

Hi Sally,
I'm in a similar situation to you with my 2. Finding things to do with both of them seems a bit tricky at the moment. Maybe it'll be easier when the younger one can stay awake longer. Who knows...I bet there'll be something else then that makes it a challenge to juggle the 2 of them! St Peter's works best for me at the moment. I also go to Natural Cafe on Westbourne Grove sometimes as there is a small play area for my 22month old and then I can feed the younger one. Other days, when it's sunny I head to one of the parks. IT often seems a lot easier to have them both strapped into the buggy!
jane

Sal73 · 18/01/2008 20:36

Hi,
Thank you both Liz & Jane for your information. And I agree with you Jane regarding having them both in the buggy at times, much easier! I've found that my son can also manage a short period of time in a highchair at Carluccio's on Westbourne Grove, if bribed with snacks.
Hopefully we'll make it to St Peter's in the next week or so.
Thanks again, Sally

Hi,
I'm staying with relatives in W8 and would love to hook up with other Mums as I know noone around this neighbourhood. We're staying for a few months so would be great to find some Mums to go for walks and go to St. Peter's playgroup with. My DS is 2 and a half.

jane1234 · 07/04/2008 10:05

Hi Peasoup,

Liz and I usually go to the park once a week with our DD's and St Peter's a couple of times a week too. I'll be there tomorrow. Will post here the next time we are going to park. Possibly Friday afternoon?

Hi Jane, Thanks for the reply. I've just got back from the Mum and Toddler session at Wholefoods, High St. Ken. Quite small and not loads of room for Toddlers but free coffee and cakes! Tomorrow I work but I might do St. Peters on Thursday. Or let me know if you're going to the park; I'd love to join you. My DS (age 2.5) naps 2pm till 4pm so I could do before or after then. We're pretty nr High St. Ken so near Kensington Gdns.
