Moving To Derby

Moving to Derby with a 4 year old and a small baby and was looking for advice on the best places to live, husband would work from home but I would like to be able to get to the city centre for work by public transport as I don't drive.

Would like to know which are the most family friendly areas where we can meet new people and somewhere that has good primary schools to begin with and eventually good secondary schools.

Easy reach of parks, leisure centre's and other adult / children’s activities would be great to if possible.

Any help anyone can provide would be great as we are from London and know nothing about the area but to would like to try and build up some knowledge if possible before we visit Derby and begin looking for houses so we can concentrate on the most suitable areas for us.

what about Breadsall Hilltop? it is around 6 minutes by bus to Derby City Center. your local primary is breadsall hill primary, and your closest secondary is leesbrook which is a 20 minute bus journey away. your closest leisure centre is a 12 minute bus ride link

Lots of good primaries in derby so I would focus on secondaries and go from there.

The best I terms of results, behaviour and local reputation are Littleover CS, Chellaston, West Park in Spondon and Allestree Woodlands. All those areas are well served by buses, i live in Allestree and Uts 10-12 mins to town. All also have local shops and kids activities and are near to parks. House prices will vary. I would try to look at schools to see what you think. Some are more exam orientated than others.
