Hi there

I am the Czarina for Hillingdon and would like to welcome you to our Local Site. I am a working mum, aged 42 with 3 children (2 dds aged 9;6 and a ds1 aged 10 months). I also meet up regularly with the Richmond/West London crew. I live in Ruislip.

Welcome and enjoy!

Welcome NatLex - my CM is wonderful but she may be a bit too far - she is in Ruislip near the high street.

Chloemegjess lives a bit closer and is training to be a childminder.

Hello Mrs R (waves) Am going on maternity leave in June so would love to meet up again. Have you found a new job then Mrs R or just taking a break?? Hope all is well with you and yours

MrsRecycle · 28/03/2008 16:05

Hi LadyG! Just taking a break from travelling and stress. Will be looking for a new job October time so plenty of time for us to get together. We're fine thanks - apart from whiplash where a car crashed into ours on Wednesday. Luckily dds were ok and ds wasn't in car at the time. Other party's insurance co has been brilliant and admitted full responsibility.

Oh dear - glad you're all Ok? Will be lovely to have some time with the family over the summer for you. We'll have to arrange a meet up before I pop.
We went to the Lido on Sunday as it was the first sunny day we'd had in a while and DS was happy as anything! Maybe we could do a May or June Hillingdon Sunday meet-up there with kids? If your youngest is anything like DS he must love the train!!

Hello Mrs Recycle
Thank you for your post.
I just read your profile and it says you know quite a lot about aui pairs? Could you give me more information if possible please? I am still looking into various childcare options for my son (8 months).
Thanks again

MrsRecycle · 03/04/2008 15:59

I've had all childcare options - Nanny, Nursery, Childminder, Au Pair so you have come to right person lol.

The Nanny route is good if you want 1-1 but quite expensive for one child. My dds did go to a nursery but I found that everytime they had the slightest sniffle I would have to go and collect. So I took dd2 out and she went to a wonderful Childminder who wasn't so fussy. My ds now goes to another CM who is just as good but has never complained when he has a cold. We have an Au Pair but they are not recommended for those under 3. But they are good back-up for when DDs (both at school) are ill.

Having said that, I do know some APs (mainly Scandanavian) that look after babies and love it. What you have to appreciate it is that an AP is only meant to be here for a year so you lose that continuity of care that you would have with a CM. Mind you, they do adjust - its just the stress on you for each new AP that comes to your home.

You have to brace yourself for having another teenager living in your home and sharing your space. Something very hard to adjust to. But you can find some wonderful girls who become part of your childrens lives for a long time (albeit via the Internet until they are able to travel).

What sort of job do you do? If it is very stressful you may find that an AP only adds to the stress.

chloemegjess lives not to far from you and is looking to train as a CM - perhaps you could CAT her to see if this is still the case?

Thank you for the info MrsRecycle, very useful. I am still thinking of the best option and just dreading the whole idea of leaving my baby with someone :O( quite struggling with it to be honest
I won't have to decide till my son is about 18 months old. I think perhaps, a childminder route is a good option. Nanny would be the best, but like you said - expensive. Nursery might be good for when he is older? Been to see one and wasn't that impressed and it was one of the best ones in the area too, private. Not sure what is the least stressful option for me as well. AP will not work for us I think with a small house. Sounds like you are pleased with your childminders. How old are your children and when did you decide to put them into a nursery/childminder?
Thanks again, I do appreciate your advice

I am looking for a childminder in Harefield village or Rickmansworth. Can anyone recommend a good one please?
Much appreciated

Hi everyone, we are moving this weekend and I was wondering if there was a chance to organise a meetup any time in the next several weeks?

MrsRecycle · 03/06/2008 13:09

congratulations Barbos - where has the time gone? I know LadyG is off soon and chloemegjess is around during the day. The only problem is that I'm away most weekends and working weekdays (although I finish end of July).

I'll start a new thread to see who is up for a meet-up.

Hi Barbos, you are probably busy with the move but just to let you know I have started another thread arranging a meetup for possibly next week, in Ruislip, if you fancy it - just post on the June meetup thread.
