Hello I hope someone can help ๐Ÿ™‚ my husband and I thinking of moving to launceston area , we initially considered looe but feel itโ€™s too isolated we have two children 7 and 10. We are fine for work as we are both nurses but just want an nice area to live and be part of a community any advice where to live in Cornwall or if launceston is nice to live thank you ๐Ÿ™‚

Launceston a lot better than Looe to move too - certainly not so isolated. Where are you moving from? Does it have to be Cornwall? Where will you be working?

I think it also depends on your interests/what you like doing as a family. We live outside of Wadebridge and best of both worlds of being close to beaches and countryside too. Consider where you would be working and the commute too.

Thank you both for replying ๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿ‘we are moving from Solihull midlands; we are open to where we can go but we want a nice area and community for us and the children. Any ideas please ๐Ÿ™‚ Iโ€™ll look at wadebridge.

Tavistock. Devon, but close to Cornwall. Depends where your jobs are going to be.

40 minute commute to Derriford.

Not a particular fan of Launceston, some large scale housing recently, no extra investment into schools/facilities, poor road links N and S and right next to the busy A30. Tavistock is the same minus the A30
The MIU is apparently going to close as Cornwall goes from 7 miu to 3 !!!
It would be a tedious commute to Plymouth or Exeter General Hospitals.

Perhaps look further south toward Plymouth, the Tamar Valley is beautiful, lots of nice villages (Calstock is my favourite) and isn't too touristy, there is a local train line to Plymouth along this valley but you do need to consider Comp schooling as they are few and far between and you ll only get free transport (local bus) to your nearest one,

Good Luck, great place to bring up kids, close to Dartmoor/Bodmin moor, mtb tracks, the coast and decent shopping in Plymouth/Exeter and Truro, even got an Ikea/J.Lewis in Exeter!

Could you consider Devon? Maybe somewhere like bovey Tracey, totnes, outlying areas of newton abbot or Torbay?
