Where to live in Folkestone avoid the wind

We're considering moving to the Folkestone area because it seems such a wonderful place, but are concerned that it can be very windy by the coast, especially during the cooler months. My partner really hates the wind. Of course I have been looking at property further back from the seafront in areas like Dolphins Road and Downs Road for example and would like to know how far inland you have to go to avoid it. I presume that places like Hawkinge would definitely immune coastal wind but I would prefer to be in Folkestone or within walking distance of the town.

It's definitely worse nearer the coast. Have lived near the harbour and where we were was more open and breezy. Downs road and Dolphins road are nice and both more built up so less windy. Hawkinge is definitely less windy but gets misty quite often and seems to be quite different weatherwise from just down the road in Folkestone! Have you considered Cheriton? Some parts wouldn't be too bad to walk into town...flat at least!

Cheriton isn't windy - just don't live downward of downs and dolphins as it's the East end and a tad rough. Lynwood, Golden Valley, Broadmead Village, all estates and areas a tad in land
Can't say as I've ever noticed the wind unless on the leas or seafront, other than the odd wind tunnel road that comes from there. Dear god hold your hair ha

Thanks for the tips exhaustedtwinmummy and QOD! So if for instance we were to live in Downs or Dolphins would it be safe to walk back from the Harbour Arm or Leas late in the evening or night? or is that not advisable? I'm happy to look wherever there are nice 30's semi's with good sized gardens for the kids. Will have a look a Cheriton for sure. We are keen to be in the town proper, rather than somewhere that's a car drive away.
Also, speaking of kids are there many small playgrounds dotted around the town, other than the one on the Leas? It's hard to see from Google maps.

Yeah u can walk up I'd say but ... it's not rough rough but there was a murder last weekend at the Harbour, sounds awful but thee are skanky people in every town!
By late at night then I'd walk in a group but not alone, and at 10.30 not 2am. You know?

Radnor Park has an amazing new kids park, a cafe and ponds and tennis courts, the Coastal Park which is sea lever below The Leas is fantastic and lots of other park areas around
