garden room

Hi,
We are thinking of installing a garden room as we often have friends and family staying with us for several weeks. For our family the house is big enough and I think this is the simplest and cheapest solution to add some extra space. Has anyone done that? What is your experience? I am wondering if it is cosy enough for guest to stay in. Does anyone have an experience of a good supplier? The room should be well enough insulated to be also used during winter.
Thanks a lot!

I think it can be tricky to get temperatures right. I would have double skin insulated dwarf brick walls, allow for all windows to open (to keep heat down in summer) and invest in blackout blinds which you can trim to fit your windows, plus cream curtains with a blackout lining on metal rails, plus professionally fitted blackout blinds for the glass roof part. Also under floor heating for the winter, and a wooden or laminate floor. In terms of decor you could buy a high quality 'every night' sofa bed (they usually cost a bit more) and a white or cream or wicker storage coffee table for guests' personal bits and pieces, plus an armoir-type cupboard in white or cream for their clothes. Then when you had guests it would make a good bedroom and the rest of the time you have an extra sitting room. The conservatory people at Scotsdales are supposed to be really good.
